I'm thinking of some great big funky wine-rack. Don't ask me where that came from.

I would use video to reduce my carbon footprint, and reduce global warming, save polar bears, get rid of harmful NOx gases, build a refuge for pandas and penguins, freeze the thawing ice caps, rebuild the ozone layer, bring back the do-do bird, and U.S. americans like such as...
Or I might do something useful like make a video of the latest CAD project I'm working on.

Use a lot of Indirect Illumination, as well as an environment image. Soft shadows always help.

Yeah, shortcuts are great but try using 5 different CAD programs and keeping them straight.

You might want to poke your eyes out after seeing all of my shortcuts.
a=zoom all; s=sketch; d=dimension; g=project geometry; l=line; e=extrude(shift e for cut); r=revolve; x=trim; c=mate(constrain); v=view box; b and mouse button=shortcut menu; n=view normal; m=measure; F5=prev view; F6=isometric: F7=section
NumPad is for sketch constraints. 0=concentricl; 1=vertical; 4=perpendicular; 5=midpoint; 7=collinear; 8=tangent; /=parallel; -=horizontal; +=intersection; .=coincident
ctrl+MMB=pan

in 5…No Wait, 6 Tips For Fixing SolidWorks Errors on SolidSmack
Here's one thing that can avoid a lot of frustration. If you have a sketch that has missing relations, check to make sure that the sketch has a face/plane first! You can edit the sketch and repair all kinds of relations that don't need it, just because a sketch lost its sketch plane.

Here is a rendering I did with Indirect Illumination and DOF. http://picasaweb.google.com/ksmason71/Rendering...

in SolidWorks Mystery Tip: PhotoWorks DOF! on SolidSmack
I find that Photoworks doesn't do a very good job with depth of field. Indirect illumination is one of the most important aspects of a good rendering, so make the rendering as good as possible without depth of field, then add it later (I think you can use photoshop).

in My Top 10 SolidWorks Wish List on SolidSmack
Add the 4th dimension. Time.
Have it be a slider bar that you could slide back to the very beginning of your file, add bookmarks along this slider that tell of revisions, prototypes, changes, and other user-defined properties (possible link with outlook's journal). Have the graphics screen display your model/assembly as it appeared at that time.
BUT, have an option to save without all this data to keep file sizes low.

Do you know of any large scale (fit around a car) scanner. I might have a need for it in the future and since you brought up this topic thought to ask here.

in Clickless Interface: Would You Miss the Click? on SolidSmack
Solidworks 2008 has done away with a lot of Right clicking. I had to put my right-clickin finger on a diet since it isn't getting as much exercise.

That is a great idea! You should submit this to the SolidWorks World Top Ten List if you haven't already.
