It looks terrible. They should include the links in the articles, but not the front page. They have it backwards!

in Online advertising is now dead (Scripting News) on Scripting News
Until Apple decides that innovation is enough, and discontinues their advertising, I think online ads will survive.

Though, with that said, I don't think advertisers fully grasp how much impact you can make, and product you can sell online without spending a dime on advertising.

in Karrine Steffans dishes on Social Media on Black Web 2.0
Angela,
I know you wrote, "We did not change it to 'land an interview' at all."

But Markus wrote:

"Karrine agreed to interview with us after we removed the use of her moniker"

Maybe Markus should clarify.

But that's all I'll write about that. I don't want to hijack the comments. I'd rather read what people think about the interview.

in Karrine Steffans dishes on Social Media on Black Web 2.0
Changing what you wrote in the past about a subject to land an interview is not a good look.

It's ok to change something at Karrine's request if you agree you made a mistake in facts or taste, but not in exchange for access.

And I know you wanted to be transparent by announcing it, but that makes her look petty and you look weak.

I love this blog, by the way. I've sent in tips, and I've commented many times before.

in BET launches 106 & Park Connect on Black Web 2.0
Angela, 106 is live most of the week.

And 106 is already deeply integrated with their website. The daily countdown, Wild-Out Wednesday, Freestyle Friday, Click My Pick - all of these show elements are determined by the fans online.

It's a good guess that the social network will have this same type of intergration.

in Delicious 2.0: Who bookmarks any more? on Mathew's comments
This is why I use Google Desktop. Pages that I have visited show up at the top of my Google searches. I don't have to remember to bookmark anything or remember to search trough my bookmarks.

Shame on Yahoo for that poison pill stunt they pulled to stop a sale. Now they have Icahn in their midst, pulling stunts on them.

in Is Urban a Euphemism for Black? on Black Web 2.0
The word "urban" is a marketing term that should be used only when you're doing business with another company.

When you're speaking to end users, you should never use that term. You shouldn't use "black" either. Just create content that speaks to your audience, and they will catch the hint without anyone being excluded.

You completely missed Marc's point. He wrote:

"Which leads us to the one area, OK lets say two areas that Hulu is just stomping all over Youtube;
1. Revenue Per Video
2. Revenue Per User"

Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins The place where Hashim and Mark Cuban don't get it is the scale. Hulu will *never* scale to the point of YouTube, making those measly profits pointless.

in friday social - Friend Feed Rooms Replace Mailing Lists on friday social
I agree. My inbox is my control center for everything I do on the web. I don't need another site to check for extra information.

But perhaps Friend Feed Rooms solves the "flooded with information" aspect of mailing lists.

in Why Did Facebook Give Up on Beacon? on AllFacebook
One of my friends on Facebook changed his status message to "I hate Blockbuster for hacking into my account and posting what I rented!"

So, no, the average user doesn't know about Beacon, but trust me - those that were affected hate it.

in Facebook Tries to Take the FriendFeed Concept Mainstream on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
What makes Facebook's implementation more powerful than Friendfeed's is the newsfeed algo' that will only show your friends select stories from your feed.

You can add all the events in your feed that you want and Facebook will make sure to show the right amount to the right people so no one is overwhelmed.

Adam Ostrow good point ... facebook's filtering options are an advantage, as is the fact you also get all the other facebook updates (when your friends add photos, friends, post items, etc0 that friendfeed doesn't have
