Fantastic, thanks Peter!
I love their entire current album, favourites probably being Handlebars and Stand Up. Yours? :)

Fantastic stuff Peter - certainly more authentic than the rest of the dross out there. I hope you do get those tickets, fancy writing a review of the gig for us if you do? :)

in No Sex Factor in X Factor on TVGuide Blog
Well, I may be alone, but as a 20 year old bloke I'd smooch Diana any day - finally a bit of creativity and personality on the show! The Austin lad annoys me to no end, not just because of the tears (nothing wrong with men crying - but every minute?!) but I can just imagine him in a Nova skirting round with a McFlurry and Red Stripe, "chirpsin the ladies". Anyway, enough of that, there's a war to protest...

in My Journey To Joining Mixx on SheGeeks
Welcome to mixx, Corvida! The community is certainly a friendlier bunch than "the other place". As mentioned, traffic is quality over quantity. Wasn't aware of a self-submission policy though?

in Drop that mouse and put your hands up! on Mathew's comments
30-40 million people are estimated to download music "illegally" in the UK. We have a population of 60.7 million people.
Something tells me ISP's don't want to lose 30-40 million monthly-paying customers.
Oh, and if this comes anywhere near legislation (which I doubt so), it would amount to restriction of information in my eyes, contradicting EU law. Couple this with all the other privacy and freedom violations of the current government, I will not be giving them a single penny from there on in through taxes.

in Is Joost headed for the deadpool? on Mathew's comments
As with the others, it would certainly be a shame to see Joost disappear. I use it regularly, and have talked about it regularly, too. See a recent post: http://socialsoul.co.uk/2008/01/10/club-music-o...
Making it on to a living-room appliance would certainly help. Maybe that slingbox of tricks? I can't say if it would work as I've never used slingbox.
It seems no marketing has been done since launch - which directly contrasts with the owner's other (previous) child, Skype. Here in the UK, I always see "mainstream users" knowing what Skype is, and mostly using it. That hasn't happened with Joost - maybe because of that lack of partnerships.
Fingers crossed. Keep up the great work, Mathew!

Thanks for the comment, Matt. Maybe getting onto Apple TV or the Wii or
something like that might help, but I'm still not convinced. I have to say
I'm starting to wonder whether Joost isn't a solution in search of a
problem.

in Hey, where’s your journalism licence? on Mathew's comments
Hazinski needs to define "journalism". To me, that is researching an event, trend, or situation and portraying that in written or spoken form.
It is a verb. It requires no noun ("journalist"). Personally, the process is as fundamentally available for doing as "eating" is. No one goes around saying "you aren't a REAL eater", do they?
Sounds like a very defensive argument to me.

I agree, Matt. That's a good way of putting it.

in Eyetracking Shows Web Audience Ignores Ads on Marketing Pilgrim
I've been making this point for quite some time now.
In my mind, it comes down to whether you value your visitors, or your advertisers, more. Placing ads on the far right, out of the way, makes the experience more pleasant for a visitor. But less lucrative for advertisers, in my opinion.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other!

Whilst this post pushed me to try Pageflakes once again, I cannot, for the service tells me Safari/Omniweb isn't supported.
Two thumbs down on the Web 1.0 how-to-deal-with-browser-difference, unfortunately.
Hopefully the new changes sort this out.

Agreed on the tagging - quite annoying.
Can't seem to get it to work in Omniweb at all? Anyone else have issues with Webkit browsers?

My first thought after using the service - is this legal?
The audio quality leaves much to be desired, but when in times of desperation - and you need to listen right now - this seems pretty good!
Nice write up.

*shrugs* I'm not going to participate too much in it though.
