in Virgin Trains: Free Wi-Fi (except on mobile devices) on The Really Mobile Project
I travel between London & Leeds periodically and the wifi on the National Express trains works fine on laptop and iPod touch. I didn't think to try it with my N82, but will do next time just to see if they have similar issues

in Vikki Chowney: Samsung’s NC10 netbook on O2 on The Really Mobile Project
I picked up the Blue verson from Curries a few months ago and it's become my primary work machine. I had thought I'd just take it to the office on dys when I had a lot of meetings and wanted to capture nots on the fly but now my lovely pink Dell XPS M1330 stays at home and the NC10 travels back and forth to London with me every day.

I've installed Office 2007 on it and often have multiple instances of Visio, Project and One Note on the go, along with Firefox and Citrix (to access the work's network) and it hasn't struggled at all. I even managed to get a full 8 hours of battery life out of it when I forgot my power cable on an overnight stay.

Definitely recommended!

in What do you think of the new spinvox.com? on Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist
I hate it, I'm working on a latop with 3G dongle, the site is slow to load (minutes not seconds) once you finally skip the intro and get into the site the cartoon format is cheesy and not in keeping with something I often point out to others as a potential corporate support tool.

It's a shame because it's a good product but I think the new site will actually put new users off rather than attract them.

You'll be so lucky if you get a Snowflex slope, it's such a good surface to ride and really aids your progression, especially on kickers! I really enjoy riding it, unfortunately for me my closest slope is 140 miles away in France (or 200 miles away if I go to the nearest English one)

in Twitority Made It. on Loic Le Meur
Having had a play it's no better than Twitted search for me. Volume of response and voice doesn't equate to authority as I see all too often on snowboarding forums where unknowledgable, unskilled but popular kids give advice on complex tricks when in real life they can't link their own turns!
Well done to the developers for building something so quickly though

Surely it's important to factor in subject knowledge in all of this.I may be poor on responses to tech stuff but I'm good on snowboarding, factor in that very few of my Twitter buds are highly skilled snowboarders and I'm bound to rank poorly.....not that I'm bothered I find the things I need to know by searching and asking my Twitter network. If someone wrote something valuable to me and my friends spotted it they'd tell me. The problem for Loic is too much volume and not enough people he trusts to point him at the Le Web stuff he should read!

Another awesome show guys!
Would love to give those headphones a go, I reckon they'd be great for blocking out the crap music they play at MK when I'm snowboarding!

in Jonathan Jensen - SMS, the ultimate Normob service on Mobile Industry Review
Other good users of SMS are SpecSavers who texted me to remind me about eye appointments and Premier Travel Inn who will text your Reservation and I was surprised to find the last time I stayed text a reminder on your day of arrival & offer to text you directions to the hotel.

in Orange Tariff Shakeup on Mobile Industry Review
All sorted, the guy I spoke to thought that it was only 250MB free as oposed to 500MB (although even that would have been better than me paying £8 a month). I sent him off to check though and he did come back to confirm it is 500MB, they also tweaked my plan so I now get more minutes and 3000 texts (rather than 500) for the same money. I've switched from Canary 35 to Dolphin35.
As David mentioned they can only make the switch from the next billing date but it could be worse, at least next month I'll be saving money.
So thanks for the heads up!
