During the upgrade of the plugin (which still updated to WP2.6 just fine) I got the following:

Upgrade Plugin

Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordpress...

Unpacking the update

Deactivating the plugin

Removing the old version of the plugin

Could not remove the old plugin

Installation Failed

Not sure why? I just manually upgraded, but thought you should know.
