This sucks. I just found out that by "child", they mean any dependant. This includes college students not able to recieve a refund from the Economic Stimulus Plan.

I live in my own apartment, pay my own rent and utlities... Yet I don't qualify as an independant because I am under the age of 25 and am in college.

Not only that, I will have to suffer the hike in taxes next year to pay for this crap.

Must be nice adults. I guess I am back to my $8 an hour job to take-from-the-poor and give-to-the-rich.

So, in other words, it's been officially announced that Craig Anderson will play all 82 games this season.

What a joke. This is the only team in the entire NHL that refuses to play a backup goalie. I'll bet that Anderson plays every minute of the road trip and then every game after that until he sustains some kind of major injury. Sacco is completely unwilling to rest him. He's going to ride Anderson until he's dead from exhaustion.

after spring forest closed (around december maybe?) our manager's contract with cheeburger/silverdeer ended so he had to close the other stores. plus our cheeburger in brierdale never even broke even. so the manager closed up the shops and opened his own store: ken's classics. but the main manager is the same, the kitchen manager is the same, and the general manager is the same.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but when I hear "adult" I think adult theme which includes porn, but isn't exclusive to porn. Why does this even matter? Do people looking for gay themed literature really need it to be categorized that way to find these books? I never find a "suspense" book or harry potter book by looking in the appropriate section. I think this is just making a mountain out of a molehill.

T Man - Get your history right! The second world war in Europe was fought primarily by the UK and USSR. The US got in when half the war was already over. Not to save innocent Danes, but because it was upset that it's harbour in Hawaii had been attacked... Nobody in Denmark considers the US to be its saviour. Apart from that particular decade, relations between Germany and Denmark are great.
Danes already speak good German as a second language..

I am neither Danish, nor German, just a European who got taught the facts rather than the glofiied pro-US version of history!

Do they have to believe in the narratives, to get the results of believing? In other words, regardless of the truth of the stories, do people have to think they are true to be good people?

This has interesting parallels with Socrates's refutation of Divine Command Theory. Does God command things because they are right, or are they right because God commands them? In short summary, Socrates argues that to accept that they are right simply because God commands them, makes for a very limited ethical viewpoint that is not particularly useful. I would agree, and draw my parallel here: people should act morally from a logical, rational viewpoint, and not because of a religious narrative or divine command.

I think we are all actually saying the same thing...

I'm not questioning the source of moral codes, but merely the steps taken to reach them, as you both have provided examples of. I don't care if the source of a line of reasoning starts with God, karma, Kermit, or Ayn Rand, as long as there are logical steps from them to a moral statement or code. As long as the path does not start and end with something like, "Because he/she/they commanded it".

Hi Galen: It may just be a matter of taste. On the main map page, I find Redfin's panel on the right a better way to see initial property data than the popups Estately uses. When I bring up a page for an individual property, Redfin puts all the key data plus the pictures in one screen (20 inch monitor in portrait mode); Estately needs yet another page for photos, plus the way it tries to make you "schedule a viewing" after the last pic is irritating. If you're in the habit of opening into background tabs Redfin is less clicking and scrolling.

Both are great services in themselves and both are strong advertisements for what you all do.

Are there ways to map comps? I imagine right-clicking a property and having comps show up on the map. I could also imagine ways to use colors, like temperature gradients, to indicate how fast inventory is moving by area.

I went in for the following reasons.
1. Held 50 day MA since early December.
2. Consolidation pattern since November
3. Cup and handle over 6 weeks.
4. Low to Mid RSI and Stochs.

Whilst I agree that it might fail once again, I believe it can make a run away gap to 85+. I believe it will touch 100 by end 2009. I am long pharma and bio in 2009.

My favourite stock for 2009 is actually QCOR. Earnings on the 24th. I closed my position today, after loading at 640. It is overbought currently, but will be tempted to buy at the 650 level in the next week or so.

Saxo Bank ansatte nye medarbejdere helt op til 14 dage inden massefyrringen. Det er sku da uprofessionelt og så er det da ligemeget hvad andre i branchen også går!

De 400 medarbejdere der er blevet fyrret er det antal de har ansat med gennem de sidste 2 år og så er der altså noget galt.

You need the braces to wear at night to straighten your wrists. that's what they're for. you can wear them during the day but they're very uncomfortable. it will take a while to get used to them at night but that's what helps the most and that's what the neurologist will tell you.

I love posts like that. All pump no substance. The other angle is that there is war going on between the real economy and the financial sector. Central banks are throwing money at the financial sector to prop it up and HOPING that the consumer (aka real economy) will lever up again. There are only two possible outcomes to this.

(A) the consumer drives up their personal debt levels again and the central bank effort to boost lending works.

or

(B) Consumers don't lever back up again and the financial sector comes crashing backdown from its 40% "re-bound".

The numbers are telling us that the consumer is not going to take on more debt, they are doing the opposite, they are trying to save money and pay off debt.

Once this truth is accepted, say goodbye to ythe current stock pump/ fake-out rally.

Most of the groups you’ve listed are Bahai schools, and I’m sure they do good work – for Bahais. Some of the others, and I’m speaking from personal experience, are no different than Christian missionary groups. In fact, they’re more insidious in that they sugarcoat their real intention of winning conversions through material inducements - such as building wells, schools and homes, all intrinsically noble and praiseworthy less the ulterior motives - whereas the Christians are more transparent about their real conversion goals.

And to preemptively address your inevitable criticism that I should stop talking and go out into the world and do something positive – I do, every day, through my occupation, my personal relations, my charitable donations and my volunteering. I’ve made more real and rewarding contributions through these avenues than any of the pathological, self-interested Bahai utopia-building activities that I’ve participated in.

I continue to dedicate myself to Baha’u’llah’s admonishment to help carry on an ever advancing civilization. Sadly, the Bahai Faith has made itself an irrelevant vehicle for that goal.

You seem to forget one very important point. The Baha’is in Iran have chosen to endure and suffer on behalf of the Faith they believe in for over 150 years…not just since 1979.

It's amazing how you’re privy to the reasoning, deliberations and choices of individuals you’ve never met or communicated with.

It is well known that being a Baha’i in Iran has always involved danger and yet they have stayed during all this time. It has nothing to do with me or Farhan. If the majority of Iranian Baha’is wanted to escape suffereing they could and would have done so from the very beginning of the Faith in the 19th century.

Your ignorance is astounding. There have been thousands of Bahais who have attempted to flee Iran as refugees, particularly after the 1979 revolution. A Bahai who wants to leave Iran has two options: self-identify as Muslim when departing from Iran at the visa office, grease an official with several thousand dollars and pray to God that these measures will suffice to prevent being detained at the departure terminal; or, risk a perilous clandestine journey, usually with the help of paid smugglers, through the Zagros mountains into Turkey, or through the southeast into Pakistan, and from there apply for refugee status in a Western nation. Bahais who leave Iran are looked down on by the UHJ, especially those who self-identify as Muslim in order to leave. In fact, the latter are banned from attending the administrative portion of feasts in their new communities.

So when you tell me that you know Iranian Bahais who claim that they left Iran to pioneer (preposterously laughable), I venture that you’re either lying, or being lied to. If you’re being lied to, I don’t blame their deception, because they want to avoid the smug derision that many expatriate Iranian Bahais face by those who live in the lap of Western luxury, driving their kids in SUVs to Bahai dance workshops, enjoying life in their little suburban bubble, never having to have face the difficulties of those to whom they show haughty condescension. Unfortunately, most of this mistreatment is metted about by Iranians.

You do not seem to understand that it has nothing to do with marketing and everything to do with faith - the same faith the early Christian martyrs who were fed to the lions had. The same faith that has caused thousands and thousands of Baha’is living comfortably in Western countries to go and live in villages in Africa, Asia and Latin America (it’s not just Iranians!) as pioneers to teach and establish the Faith. These same pioneers have suffered all sorts of diseases and problems that the local people suffer from.

Now you’re just being disingenuous. You, like many Bahais of your ilk, including your Central Figures, have said, countless times, how the persecution of Bahais is a godsend for raising the profile of the religion, how suffering and persecution offer opportunities for individual testimony and religious witnessing to others. Same millennial religious toxic mind sludge, over and over again. And don’t be a twerp and conflate Western Bahais who CHOOSE to travel to difficult parts of the world with Bahais in Iran who, having no choice, are forced to suffer hardship.

My comments are centered on the Bahai adminstration's attitude towards Bahais in post-revolutionary Iran, namely, the explicit and implicit expectation – and active encouragement - that they remain inside the country, in spite of persecution, so that they witness through patient suffering, for the benefit of their compatriots and others, to the veracity of the Bahai Faith, thereby furthering the adminstration's public marketing and conversion goals; and the adminstration's hope that when the undergarment-moistening fantasy of American boots landing on Iranian soil materializes, there will be a significant Bahai presence to re-build the Iranian Bahai community.

Moreover, I commented on the despicable attitude of many Western Bahais towards those who decide to flee Iran for the sake of their children and families, and situated this sinister attitude within the Bahai martyr mentality, of which you are an avid exponent. Bahais in pre-revolutionary mid-20th century Iran did not experience the same difficulties in exiting the country as current Iranian Bahais, so I never challenged the existence of pre-revolutionary Iranian pioneers. Rather, I pointed out that given the current circumstances it is highly implausible that an Iranian Bahai can simply depart from Iran to pioneer elsewhere in the world. Your contention that you know of a post-revolutionary Iranian who left Iran to pioneer is what I labeled as preposterously laughable, not the existence of pre-revolutionary pioneers from Iran or the current Iranian Diaspora.

You're right about the Central Figures. This is a point I've repeatedly made on this blog: the pathologies of Bahai behavior and thought are not aberrations or deviations, instead they're all rooted in the writings of the central figures.

By the way, it's not about the adminstration "allowing" Bahais to remain in Iran; it's about the adminstration guilt tripping Bahais who want to escape for the betterment of their children and families.

It must be duly noted that virtually all Bahais who escape Iran do so for the sake of their children. When bringing life into this world you are responsible for securing the best possible quality of life for that child, and when you have a choice of staying in Iran and denying them a quality life, or escaping and hoping they benefit from the opportunities that the West affords, well, then, it's your moral obligation to do so! The interests of one's child trump any others, including the interests of a religions organization.

There’s nothing new about the Bahai blueprint, Farhan. I don’t claim to have an ideal solution. But I don’t need to have one in order to identify deeply flawed proposals.

Based on simple observation and study, it seems to me that liberal social democracy is the best form of human governance and social organization that has been devised up to this point. It’s the only system that has facilitated huge improvements in standards of living, accommodated people with diverse metaphysical and political beliefs, promoted and achieved a respectable degree of tolerance, and offered channels and avenues for progressive change.

This system has done more for improving the lot of humanity than any religious system or blueprint.

Of course it has flaws and problems, some of them systemic, but the blueprint, through slow and painstaking change, does correct those shortcomings. History bears testimony to this.

Bahais justify the incompetence, failures and weaknesses of their administrative structures and those who operate them by pointing out that, you know, it’s all new, and improving slowly but surely, give it time. Why doesn’t that apply to secular systems? If you admit that the Bahai blueprint improves in a piecemeal, incremental fashion, then why not just throw your weight behind a secular system that does the same but has the added benefit of not having to rely on dubious notions of infallibility and divine legitimacy

Liberal social democracy does have its mini-maestros (judges, politicans, police departments) but they receive their authority through the consent of the governed, not metaphysical pies in the sky like God, and this authority is transparent and can be taken away as quickly as it is granted, in the event of impropriety or abuse.

Moreover, Bahai characterization of modern Western society as some sort of grotesque dystopia of rampant immorality and debauchery is so exaggerated that it borders on the insane. It’s because of this supposed spawn of Satan, which we call liberal democracy, that you can freely assemble at your meetings, freely disseminate your views, freely operate without fear of monitoring or imprisonment.

I believe Bahais can make valuable contributions to ecumenical religious pluralism and social causes within a secular pluralist liberal system. But the exclusivism and pretensions to global conquest have to go. And I can understand why a Bahai would have a tough time with that, in view of the Central Figures’ constant urging to “spread the Cause.”

I haven't seen Rambo, but I'd like to offer my opinion on the difference between critics and audiences. I'm a movie reviewer in Australia, and I've noticed an ever-increasing rift between me and the average movie-going public.

I try and review movies for their entertainment values, but over time, this gets corrupted.

As I watch more and more movies, my general standard for 'entertainment' becomes different. I believe this is because film critics are comparing movies to other movies that they've seen, whereas the audience, especially for big blockbusters, is at the movies for the experience, like an event.

I despised I Am Legend, comparing it to all the other movies that did it better, but friends of mine enjoyed it just because it had monsters in it. C'est la vie.

I'm reminded of one day, when I opened up the Sydney Morning Herald and read the film reviews. They gave Norbit one star, calling it the worst movie of the year. Right next to it was the box-office numbers for Australia, and Norbit was #1. Sigh...

Ultimately, I think Tarantino's remake will be a disappointment, if only for one reason: when Russ Meyer made his delightfully campy movies, no one really wanted to acknowledge their presence. If Tarantino remakes Pussycat, it'll be highly publicized and promoted.

Somehow, to me, that loss of under-the-surface filmmaking takes away the vitality...

The real problem is drivers and OEM channels and sales distribution, not just the technology of the OS itself. I say let Google try their hand at it. Where are all their print and other device drivers gonna come from? How are they gonna keep channels open with Dell or Best Buy for example with super small market share? They can only rely on their brand name and cut rate pricing for so long. But I guess someone has to try. Might as well be Giggle...

What a foolish comment Cesar. There's a lot of reasons we didn't make the playoffs, and benching Jake tops the list. Cutler might be the man for the next decade in Denver, but he wasn't ready to lead a veteran group this year. Since Ego Shanahan decided a Super Bowl wasn't in the future, he decided to make Plummer a scapegoat. I seem to remember the Broncos were sitting at 7-3, with wins over N.E and Baltimore, when it was leaked to the media that Plummer was done. After that, for whatever reason, it appeared the team mailed it in. Please tell me again why we "failed at making the post season" It sure as hell wasn't the pressure of "Jay waiting in the wings."

Another in a long line of befuddling personel moves by Shanahan and the Broncos. I love the thought of a corner opposite Bailey actually stopping a receiver, and realized the need to fill loss of Darrent Williams. I just hate to see Tatum Bell go. I think he's got the potential to be an elite running back in this league.

The last time we tried this we got Portis for CHamp. While I love Champ, it's hard to dominate a game when you don't see any action. Our biggest need remains a pass rusher. . .maybe another Browns castoff is available. Unitl we get a pass rush, I don't care if Deion and CHamp are back there in their prime, it still won't matter.

As for Bell, he was grossly misused. Denver seemed to want to make him something he isn't, a between the tackles grunt runner. It never seemed to work, and he always seemed to be looking over his shoulder. Not unlike Plummer, who was also forced to play a style of game that didn't suit his strengths. I wouldn't be surpiresed to see Bell get 1500 this year. All he needs is touches and a coach who believes in him.

You know it's kind of interesting, everyone seems to think they know what's best for Plummer. The beauty of America is a person's right to freedom. The same chumps ripping Tiki Barber for retiring early are probably the same ones saying Emmett Smith played too long. My question is why do they think they have the right to tell anyone anything. I'm not an NFL player, and I wouldn't let anyone dictate what I do with my life. I respect Plummer's decision, and would never presume to tell someone else how to live their lives.

I'm actually shocked to hear Rivers mention Plummer as having talent. I've read enough posts in here saying otherwise that I almost forgot Plummer did manage to break Elway's record for yards and TD passes in a season, and made the AFC championship game. To hear some folks in here you'd think he was a complete bum.

This is a stupid decision. Call up a goaltender to play tonight. Give Anderson a rest. At this pace, Anderson is going to end up playing 70+ games, all assuming he doesn't get injured along the way. He's never played more than 40-some games in a season, and they're going to expect him to play nearly every night? He's been good so far yeah, but he's not Brodeur.

Ang. artikeln här så ger ju författaren ett rätt dåligt första intryck av releasedagen. Har suttit o läst om kameran hela dan och den här skepsismen du beskriver känns helt främmande. Skulle snarare säga att många verkar glada och nöjda med förbättringarna av 5D'n. Bortsett från ett gäng gnälliga Nikon-anhängare då såklart.

Figure skating with the puck is not playing defense.

And Duchene is not deserving of a learning curve. He was the 3rd overall pick in the draft. If he's going to be in the NHL, he needs to be scoring goals on a regular basis. One measly goal in eight games is not producing. If he wants a learning curve, he can go back to Juniors. I expected at least 40 goals and 100 points this season. Ovechkin did it. Crosby did it. Duchene was hyped just as much as those two coming out of the draft. He's already been crowned the Rookie of the Year by a lot of people, so 40 goals and 100 points is not expecting too much for a 3rd overall pick.
I expect results for my money. These guys are paid to entertain the fans, and one stupid goal is not enough entertainment for what I'm paying for.
