in Firstline Security Cost Comparison on odd time signatures
Given the current federal law and NSA wiretapping, it literally does not matter. What they're saying is that phone calls via monitoring center may be recorded, which is standard in all customer-to-company calls. The security company is a for profit organization , not government unit, so they have no obligation to protect you or your privacy. Forget FBI, I'd be less comfortable with company employees listening to my calls.

I am SO sick of people being offended by advertisements and knee-jerking to racist accusations.
As for social networking, there's only a few successful and serious ones, myspace, facebook, friendster. the Presidential campaigns reflect them all.

in Firstline Followup: Thoughts on Reality Shows, Direct Sales, and Deception on odd time signatures
Actually in my opinion, Cutco and books are equally rip-offs, yes you can touch and feel the product, but it's overpriced. In that sense, security, pest control, and knives are really sold by the same companies by the same ethics. Selling service or product, dishonesty and overpricing is never right, but when it's sold, it's sold.

in GoFirstline.com: Evil, Deceptive Marketing to College Students on odd time signatures
The "art of deception" is not entirely a false accusation against Firstline. However, it is not uncommon among all kinds of sales jobs (especially door to door sales) either. Reps ARE told to sell air, as in any industry, some succeed and some don't. To many, learning to "deceive", sell, argue and communicate has been the only lesson they needed for life. Some consider the 'deception' that got them into the job most valuable too.
If you're always caught up on money, you'll be disappointed everywhere you go. But if you understand other things, such as being able to overcome the fear of rejection, verbal abuse, humiliation, harsh working conditions, this would be a life lesson. For those who've done the job (and it's NASTY), all come back saying "successful or not, I can do anything now!".
I encourage people to always ask questions about the company, to any company, to anybody trying to sell you something (as you will get that from customers yourself). Most importantly, read paperwork you will sign, that's all that's protecting your rights (and theirs).
It should be no surprise many sales pitches they use sound much like MLM & get rich quick. You need to know facts from fiction, exaggeration from realistic expectations. There's no industry or job for everybody.
