in Burju Shoes - comfort & style on style observer
That's so funny that you posted about this, because I was just watching DWTS yesterday and wondering where I could get some of those shoes - because if they can stay put during a chacha or a jive and one can dance in them even thought they have a heel, they must be pretty darn comfortable.

I checked out the website and I agree, some are a bit much, but they have some cute styles! I might just get a pair of sandals :-)

Jean Voute Pratt Me too - I might get a pair of the Nude sandals. Thanks Elisa!

in Transformational Jewelry - do you believe? on style observer
I don't know if I believe in the "focus" part of it, but I kind of like inspirational jewelry. Maybe as a message to others, maybe to solidify your beliefs or maybe just because it looks cool :-)

Ugh. Bag lady indeed. What was she thinking? Love the colors but the as a whole... shocking for DVF.

I'm always shocked by how inappropriate some pre-teens and early teens are dressed, especially in and around NYC. I know some probably change after they leave home, but still! And I'm sure Gossip Girl doesn't help ;-)

Gracie, on the other side, looks lovely! Did she have fun?

I tend to be more into the edgy, esp. for Fall and Winter. I prefer to wear bright clothes in summer (though I also like to "break" dark fall/winter clothes with a bright accessory sometimes).

I have to say though, I absolutely love that turquoise/teal ensamble up there in the middle. Whose it is? It's lovely.

wow, fantastic finds! I also love jewelry with "more to it", which is why I became a fan of Satya. I'm happy to find another one - thanks Jean :-)

That's gorgeous!!! And such a steal, too! If I could fit into a size 11 I wouldn't hesitate, I'd buy it immediately :-)

Jean V. Pratt Me too - but I think it's too short for me. Over 35 - I must draw the line :)

Yay! Very excited about the statment jewelry and ankle/cutout booties making it into next season :-) Love bold colors, too. Not so hot on jumpsuits & rompers, probably because I wore them in my teens already :-) Thank you for the summary! So we knoe what we should invest in during the sales that we'll still be able to wear.

in roller rink fever on style observer
I LOVED my roller skates! I went rollerskating religiously, every weekend. Which explains how I kept my lower body in decent shape in my teens ;-)

I bought a pair of rollerblades four years ago, but I just could never get into them.

Jean V. Pratt I loved my roller skates too! I could NOT get the whole roller blade thing - liked skates much better.

wow, great example! The only hint that B was the splurge outfit was that the jeans seemed cut better and I recognized the HH bag in A. Otherwise who could tell?

in vintage style on style observer
I have to admit that vintage creeps me out a little bit. But mostly, I've always felt that the only vintage clothes I thought were cute enough to buy were a bit to dressy for my style.

Something has changed in the past few year, however, and I find myself reaching for more "grownup" pieces. That, and the fact that quality seems to have declined dramatically for clothing in the past 10 years, make vintage more appealing.

Plus who can resist these gorgeous outfits you put together? The evening one is particularly lovely!
Jean V. Pratt You hit the nail on the head! The quality of clothing has declined & that is exactly why I feel more attracted to vintage pieces. Great minds think alike! It seems people used to care more when crafting a piece of clothing. Now... it's so massed produced & it loses a lot.

in tie dye denim … thumbs up or down? on style observer
I think it's horrible, it makes me cringe every time I see it. It's just too much. But I bet if there is ONE pair of cure tied died jeans out there, Kate Moss will find it, and then everyone will wear it. Anything short of that, and this trend will go back to the grave.

I do love the "forgive me fashion, for I have sinned" quote :-)

GREAT article! So many good points.

The traffic and free stuff things are peculiar to me. I will not do just anything to get traffic. And I will not "sell" myself to anyone who promises free stuff or discounts or other special treatment.

I know people sometimes assumed that when I mention some brands in my "cool finds" posts. I do accept pitches and samples if it sounds like something I might like. But I only post about it if I *did* like it.

in pick a paint that’s fresh and fashionable in 2009 - nails on style observer
I either go for the pale natural pink or the deep color. it used to be that deep burgundy, black-red. Now it's dark purple of course, as you said - my favorite is Butter London Branwen's Feather, which is a deep purple with a little bit of shimmer. I don't like overly shimmery nailpolish, but this one is subtle and really pretty.
Jean V. Pratt I don't normally go for the shimmer nail polish either - but they have done well with making them look rich & not cheap.

Stunning. I used to hate pink, many years ago. Then a few years after I had Sarah I started warming up to some shades of pink. And not I love it, as long as it's not overdone and Barbie-looking. And this is definitely not. This is fabulous!

Jean V. Pratt So funny b/c I didn't like pink until I had two boys. It is so "male" in my house I needed a little pink! Glad you like - Thanks

All great looks! The second is my favorite - though I'd probably substitute another clutch because I don't like animal print. I love the boxy jacket!!
