Dude - #5, don't be bringing me into it ;-) Yeah, that was quite the experience. There is a great deal of pain and anger out there right now that will require me to really embrace being the moderator for the entire denomination. Some may not let me, but i will try. It was great meeting you in person and i am sure it will not be the last!

Jim - With as much flack as I have been getting about appearing to be blatantly "campaigning" I am not surprised at all. While I very much understand the idea that we want to discern the will of God at GA, I think that today's communication capabilities and our lack of use may be more limited to the Spirit's movement. Yet another culture shift within out denomination that must be tackled. - See you in SJ!

My Katie-crush not withstanding, this movie is VERY good. I have used many clips from April in worship to talk about family, forgiveness, risk, sin, etc.

Jim. Nice post. My two cents would be that transformation of the church will be brought about by that middle group who wants to keep peace, but it is going to the the righteous middle that would define peace as not simply the absence of tension, but peace that allows us to be transformed and not consumed by that tension.

DJ - Looks like a wonderful opportunity. I always feel that as part of "the family" at these events one is given a great change to ask questions that might not be able to be pushed. I would think asking questions that force people to be intentional about their ministry are important. Here are two questions that I would be interested in hearing some response and reflection.

- What does the Postmodern Asian American congregation look like? Is that even a reality?
- Does ethnicity/culture trump political and theological perspectives?
- How how, will, should and/or can mono-cultural congregations transition to be pan-asian or multicultural?

Just a few quick thoughts. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

Show was okay. A bit surreal with Kenny G doing his thang. Highlight for me was Rob Schneider poking fun at AZN and Asians. Keeping hoping his shtick turns up on youTube.

DJ - Wow, clearly you have touched on an important area of interest/concern. What a gift you are in bringing together voices that may not otherwise cross.

Actually I have had friends ask me about things they were thinking about saying and I always warn that not matter what, someone will misunderstand their intent. The thing to think about is that they asked because they understood their power and privilege. And not that I represented the "Asian Voice" but iw as able to help them discern whether or not their words were way off or uninformed. If I were to offer Piper some comments, I would encourage him to offer some disclaimers that showed that he had thought of some of the issues. For instance, "I do not fully understand the historical and culture realities of Japanese and Filipino interactions, but . . ." or I would push him to think about whether this was a place for him to venture in the first place. I could have predicted this kind of fallout.
