in Vudu is a Video Store in a Box on blog.jr.com
I agree -- we'll be hearing a lot mroe about this little box. It sounds pretty exciting -- and is the first box to offer tru eon-demand (instant) viewing. I imagine Apple will be scrambling to do the same for the Apple TV.
Apple's new box is an interesting comparison. It has a lot more features, and a lot of people already use iTunes. I think the Vudu will have to come on strong to unseat that early advtange.
Plus, the Apple TV was out first, allowing it to get positive reviews that people have seen. Pieces like Shelly Palmer's "Apple TV - Just What the Doctor Ordered":

There's something to be said for "mindshare" -- though, with TiVo as the precedent, maybe it's not everything. (I love it, but most people just get the cable box.)

in Vudu: On-demand Movies Without the Cable Company on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I don't really agree that "this space is fairly crowded." I feel like, for the average person, this space is completely empty. The Apple TV is cool, but no box has jumped into the public imagination yet, the way the iPod did for music.
Could this be the box? Maybe.
We all are pretty sure that the internet is the future of TV. (All you need to do is read Shelly Palmer's essays on convergence and you'll see it -- especially his "Over the Top" article.) However, no one knows what the top service will be. I don't think we've seen it yet.
But this will certainly be a contender.

in Google’s ClaimYourContent.com Creates False Hope on Plagiarism Today
Google has plans for this service, and announced that already.
YouTube needs this to go legit. RIght now, they are just mooching off other's content. As Shelly Palmer has pointed out, there is no business for YouTube until they legalize their content.
