It's astonishing to me that Zappos has done basically nothing to their horribly ugly website in all the years I've been using them. I'm a huge Zappos fan, but if I were to just run across their website, I'm almost certain I wouldn't feel confident enough to buy anything from them. I'm sure Endless' conversion rates are close to double Zappos'. It's a shame.

I sure hope we turn this around soon. I told my wife last night that Obama had to be appealing -- no matter how conservative you were -- simply because you wanted to believe that he was different, that he would bring change. Now we've seen, though, that while these two candidates may be somewhat outside the establishment, they're still playing the establishment's games as always. It will take a significant number of us genuinely getting fed up with it and doing something about it for things to ever change.

This recent penalty isn't for selling links, nor is it for linking to bad neighborhoods. Google is penalizing sites for selling links and not marking them as paid links. They've been very clear that paid links should be marked with "nofollow."

As Tom writes below, this is an attempt to stop this particular type of search engine manipulation.

Danielle, I'd love to read a post that outlines why you continue to consult despite nightmare clients. At some point it seems like people would just give up, but there have to be good reasons why you keep going. I've read lots of posts like these, but none that tackle why to press through.

The only problem is that WordPress doesn't convert the title of the post into "postname" in the same way that Blogger does. So some of your URLs will be the same, but most will still be different.

Still, it's better than nothing, right?

I really like the new WYSIWYG editor in WordPress. Even as a hardcore HTML coder, I've started to use it because it's so useful. That wasn't always the case, but the most recent version have been great. Plus, WordPress automatically saves your posts as you're typing, so there's no worry about losing it.
