in Why Japanese in Hawaii Weren’t Interned during WWII on Tofugu Comments
"My family’s sword was taken. Bastards!"
My grandmother gave away the family sword to some movers while my dad was growing up. My grandfather was in the military so they moved around a lot. You know women, she probably thought it was dangerous or something. I always thought it would have been sweet to have that thing.

"You know women", eh?

I'm no feminist, but I'm not sure I liked the "you know women" part either.

Wow, would people actually buy that thing? it looks retarded. Just watching that girl slowly pivoting in place was so ridiculous. How many times do we have to go in reverse? It's not that hard. Same with parallel parking, just spend like 5 minutes learning how to do it correctly.
I was more impressed by the Lexus that parallel parked itself with the press of a button.

At first I thought this was just a very creative joke...
Well, if the construction begins in my life time I'll be sure to take a look.

in Advanced Japanese I: Transitive? Intransitive? Confusing? Yes. on Tofugu Comments
Nice post. I'm glad to see a more advanced topic on here. A lot of times websites are always stuck on teaching all the basics.
This topic really isn't entirely different in English. For example, you would "rise out of your seat", but "raise your hand". At glance, though, it seems like this may occur at lot more in Japanese.
