I was wondering why there wasn't more fanfare.

On a similar note: the jaws of my LA proper friends drop when I tell them the Pinkberry on Broadway has little to no line.

Re: VETERANS SAY PARADE ORGANIZERS “… EMBARRASSED THE CITY IN THE EYES OF THE NATION.” | The District Weekly

Our parade was a feature story on Countdown with Keith Olberman on MSNBC the other night. You think Paramount / Star Trek is doing something nice for the local homeless? Someone please dig deeper on that point and report back asap. We lucky folks get to harbor the styrofoam treasures all for ourselves! THANKS BREAKWATER, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!

Re: TOTAL TRASH | The District Weekly

The giant piles of styrofoam, unnatural debris and trash that washed up are actually called "Not Recycling". Or is your idea of "Recycling" trash being thrown into the the LA River, port and ocean and washed up onto our beach in freakishly large quantities? Never heard of that one.

Re: TOTAL TRASH | The District Weekly

How am I going to reuse chunks of styrofoam drinking cups, cup o noodle containters, broken coolers, etc. Make a mosaic cafe table?! I'm sorry Dan, did I pass you on the beach today sorting out the dirty diapers, crates, dead seagull carcasses and tires to rinse take home to your family? Do you think Manhattan Beach, Seal Beach or Huntington Beach looked like this today? Why does the Long Beach coast have to be the net for all of Los Angeles county's crap?

Aquatic Capital of the World...yes!

Re: WOW RIGHT ON TO PAPERPLANES | The District Weekly

One time, at the Que Sera, I saw the Paper Planes open for some other band who was supposedly amazing. The Paper Planes rocked SO HARD that the headlining band stopped schmoozing with their groupies, moved right up to the front of the stage edge and watch Micah play his guitar with their mouths hanging open along with everyone else in the room.

Lesson learned: ALWAYS go see the Paper Planes.

Re: PABST BEER PRICE FALLS IN CELLAR | The District Weekly

"Hero" may be thrown around too often but "super genius"...not nearly enough. No Suja, no Foster, no Lowenthal of any sort, hell no lackey of any kind came to greet this legend. What, was there some lame ass ribbon cutting going on at the same time?! Its just embarassing and is a perfect example of the short sightedness that is a constant in this city. Luxury condos my ass...

Re: BEAUTIFULLY REVIVED ART THEATER OPENS TONIGHT AFTER FLAWLESS DRESS REHEARSAL

I wish the city council cared about our community gems as much as Howard Linn and Jan van Dijs. Thank you for ensuring another landmark doesn't fall to crappy redevelopment. The East Village should take notes on how 4th street has created a neighborhood culture that reflects the community demographic.
I can't wait to spend my money there and be a regular patron again!

Re: WAR ON TERRA

Love it! Don' t you think you should spend more time trying to generate new and interesting content for your own magazine??? Every issue is getting thinner and thinner, the content on your website is so old and rarely updated that its not worth visiting regularly anymore. Yet you continue to waste time taking pot shots at the P-T.

YES, we all know that paper is in the crapper too, I am very sorry for the bad experiences you all had working at the P-T at some point but jesus, get over it!! Move on, you are turning your magazine which has the potential to be relevant and interesting into a bitter divorcee that still seeths over an ex-husband from 1993.

When these publication, you promised you were going to "blow the lid" off all the scandal in this city but all you have is some poor fact checking at the PT or any other minor infraction. Go build some relevant relationships with people in the city that can get you the scoop or insider info you need to give us some good reporting! You can't blow the lid off of anything if you don't have the connections and the leads and it is becoming clear no one there is bothering to get them.

Get your crap together before the magazine folds, we want you to stay in business!

Re: THE CRIME WAVE THAT WASN’T

Yes, but why write about what you are reading in another paper that we can easily go read? Why spend so many articles about what the P-T got right or wrong? Right now you have 2 articles about what is being written in the P-T on the homepage of your site. Is the purpose of this magazine to be a media watchdog for a local paper that is barely local anymore? Or is the purpose of this magazine to explore actual events in the city and provide us with YOUR viewpoint?

If I cared about the P-T's take on something, I'll go read it first hand. How about looking at what is lacking in their coverage and filling the gap. We definitely need more local voices, don't waste yours on a dying newspaper.
Go walk the beat and drum up some juicy news! This city has corruption, crime, freaks and weridos on every street corner that are 100 times more interesting than anything the PT is doing.

Re: THE LEGEND OF BELMONT SHORE BAR PROBLEMS GROWS

Channel 4 news did a big story last night on the 11pm broadcast about the Belmont Shore problems.
