in CPA Exam Score Release Predictions - April/May 2009 Window - Wave 2 on CPA Exam Blog
Can someone talk to me about the scale that is applied to these exams? After taking every test I think that I definitely failed and when I get my grade it is 10 to 20 points higher than I imagined. Is this because of a scale???

In regard to Phil's comments and his management of the adjacent properties. I believe that all of Howard Park's retail space still sits empty. And the Pickering places retail isn't much better. The almost entirely shuttered dentist office store front is doing wonders for the neighborhood. There just seems to be so much retail space in Wallingford that sits empty. That corner of 45th and Stone is just one great example. With the Starbucks gone and entire 4 floor building on the other corner almost entirely empty.

To Scott (TX):
I think all of the sections are probably pretty tough, but I wouldn't necessarily say BEC is the hardest. My first exam (REG) seemed harder (waiting on that score), and I studied far less for BEC and found I got an 88 Saturday. But, I also had a few extra finance classes in college, so maybe that made it easier for me?
Just my thoughts

This happens every couple of days, I'm guessing it is just for maintenance.
But, maybe it is for scores this time? Here's hoping

Does anyone have a clue of how the exams are SCALED?? I ran out of time on FARE and was sure that I got both research questions wrong. I was positive that I failed. I ended up getting a 79 and have no idea how that happened.

Wow, martial arts legend, told by Bruce Lee that he is the black dragon, worked on over 200 films and now lives in the gorgeous Virgin Islands. What an awesome life.

I took REG for the first time yesterday. I coasted through the multiple choice and think I did pretty well on the first simulation. The second simulation was a different story. I know I nailed one of the tabs but the rest I'm pretty sure I bombed. I hope that one simulation doesn't kill my score.
Well now its time to begin the wait we all enjoy so much. Good luck to all.

in Flippin', Floppin' on Manhattan Beach Confidential
I am not badmouthing them. I would honestly like to talk to some of the "flippers" and see what led them to flip in these times. Are they just very optimistic? I’m not like some and think these are total stinkers. These places have some nice details and appear to be flipped nicely, but they will be extremely lucky to sell at the pre-flip price. A more likely scenario is months of carry costs and discounts to sell or perhaps they will go to rentals. Again I like what I see of these, but they aren’t unique enough in location, price, or curb appeal to entice a many buyers in this market.

in REVIEW: 'How Bruce Lee Changed the World' (2009) on Kung Fu Cinema
As great as How Bruce Lee Changed The World was, I must say they left out a major part of his life and legacy specifically dealing with Dan Inosanto. He was one of Lee's closest friends, a major part of Lee's past, a part of game of death, he was also part of the development of some of Bruce's training exercises and the list can go on and on. Yet he remains not mentioned or seen once which really bothers me. I say this especially because I had the pleasure of training with Guro Inosanto and believe me he's the closest thing to Lee around. He's also such wonderful teacher and person who is such a major part of keeping Lee's legacy going, it kills me that he was left out like this. However please let it be said that other than this, the documentary was very well made, contained footage that is rarely seen, and gives Lee the respect he deserves for his massive influence on society as well as culture. It also shows just how unfair and tragic death can be and that the good really do die young.

in There is only one Bruce Leroy on Kung Fu Cinema
That's so awesome, I've always wondered what happened to Taimak. I hope his career gets a revamp too, he's the man. That being said, on the other hand I'm really really getting tired of hollywood doing nothing but remakes simply because they feel it's guaranteed money. The original was original, hence why it became a classic. You won't see many new classics if everything is just rehashed from old ideas. Stop being lazy Hollywood, give new people with new ideas a chance. Stop ruining cinematic gems. And for crying out loud Samuel L Jackson.....ENOUGH!! Stop taking every single role, with all the millions that guy has....take a f**king vacation and give other actors a chance. Sam's awesome but it's an overkill at this point. Taimak will pretty much be the only reason I see this.

in Trailer for Isaac Florentine's 'Ninja' with Scott Adkins on Kung Fu Cinema
It's about time Scott Adkins got his own movie. On top of it he's a ninja! Cannot wait, and I'm glad to see a very underrated director Isaac Florentine getting his due. I hope they keep their relationship and get bigger budget opportunities.

in Trailer for Thai actioner 'The Sanctuary' on Kung Fu Cinema
Man these Tony Jaa wannabe movies are starting to annoy me. Do something fresh and original. Tony busts his ass to make these well planned amazingly choreographed films, then these hacks come along and just copy all of his moves. Not cool.

Jim,
Unfortunately I was not at the Gullidge concert. Maybe I should have been.
However I have the reason, excuse that I live in Sydney. As a matter of interest from my back fence you look out on to the Sydney Training college grounds. It is pure coincidence that this is the case. Richard and Ruby Holtz were our neighbours.

Jim,
One of my most precious memories was playing Divine Communion under Commissioner Richard Holtz when he was stationed as Chief Secretary in Sydney. I remember him Extracting Sweet Will of God from me minus my usual nerves. I was the flugel player in our band.

People may go to the movies to see a particular actor, but every director has a particular style of filmmaking, and if that style doesn't fit with the genre or the feel of the movie changes too radically from previous releases in the series, the audience will often notice - which will result in the movie (and consequently box office sales) suffering.
