in A large order of entitlement with some victim-blaming on the side, please on Doing Feminism
Great article and you're completely spot on with every argument you brought up. There are still so many people who believe that if a woman wears pretty much anything less than a ski suit then she was asking for it and in the numerous points you brought up, you're completely right in saying that it erases the perpetrator for the situation. We definitely need to start holding men accountable for what they do instead of focusing on a woman who was "asking for it."

I love this list. I also loved reading the two troll comments here. You know what, trolls? Hobbes, Tom, listen carefully...YOU are encouraging rape.

in Another Woman Assaulted by the Garneau Rapist on Doing Feminism
That second picture really got me, I love it. I especially love at the bottom it says 'The sisterhood is watching!' People need to unite, that is the only way we are going to succeed and rape is going to stop. We need to unite and just like the sign says, when one woman is raped it is a rape of all women; it is an injustice to all women.

in How Wrong is Fox News? on Menstrual Poetry
Yes, I heard about that, Blanca. Actually, I read about it on your blog! Fucking crazy... But it isn't just Sean, it's just Fox News as a whole, which isn't really 'news,' but the video being set up as a game show was pretty funny. Disturbing to see just how many lies they've been spreading that I haven't seen because I don't let Fox News on the television here.

in What Kids Think About Bill O’Reilly on Menstrual Poetry
That video is awesome, Miss Attitude! Nice of O'Reilly to call a person who disagrees with him, who points out his own flaws a pinhead. "A bully is someone who dislikes himself and who must make others feel worse about themselves..." Sound familiar, O'Reilly?

in I Wonder How Many Surveys are Made Up of Inaccurate Info on Menstrual Poetry
Oh I know that the original post wasn't bashing pro-lifers, I did that one on my own and here's why: Because I'm right (in most cases) If you'd like to see for yourself, go down to the bottom of this website, look under tags, click on anti-choice or extremism and have fun. Thanks for reading!

in Woman Experiences 19 Hour Rape and Torture on Menstrual Poetry
Yes, it could happen to a male, but it did happen to a female. In cases such as these, should those of us who spread the word about it always put a disclaimer on the bottom of our posts saying "Yes, I am aware that this could also happen to a male." ? It seems a little ridiculous to me and if it did happen to a male and I did hear about it, I would most definitely post about it because I am aware that rape, torture, molestation, etc. happens to males as well, it just happens a lot more to women.

What I am also picking up from your comment, 'Me,' is that there's something in your head giving you the idea that this website consists of only feminist issues and nothing more, which if you looked around a little bit, you would see that isn't the case; I write a lot about politics and about issues that couldn't be classified strictly under feminist or women's issues. This website is simply a feminist's response to all of the fuckedupness in the world and how I feel about it--Nothing more.

in A Word on Dissent on Doing Feminism
It is for this reason and many, many others that my 'about' page on my site now includes a comment policy. I was getting waaaaay too many comments telling me my sexual orientation and how I am undoubtedly expected to whip up a great meal; of course, the comments at hand were not written so eloquently.

in I Certainly Don’t Wanna Discuss that Issue–Birth Control or Women on Menstrual Poetry
So, the next time you see a spider, wasp, mosquito, mouse, rat, cockroach, bat, and so on, you're going to capture it and bring it safely outside to resume its life? Or does every life on Earth count in favor of the cute and cuddly only?

Which is why you're told to wear condoms and the woman should be on birth control. Two 90-something% effective birth control methods give you a damn good chance of not finding yourself in an unwanted pregnancy.

in I will be away from here for a while on Doing Feminism
Black Like Me is an AMAZING book. I read it in the 8th grade and then picked it up again in the 10th and then started telling everyone I talked to about books to read it and I think I've made a good 15 other people read it and they all love it as well. It's such an amazing book that really brings you into not only this man's life, but the lives of so many people who were looked down upon because of their skin color.

I'm going to miss your blog, but obviously from how little mine gets updated, I know what it's like when life happens and so I wish you luck going back home and catching up with your family. Have a good trip and be safe!

I love that you started a vlog! I was going to, I even have a YouTube account, but I'm kind of...petrified of my webcam or talking to my webcam and most likely coming off as scary or picking up pedophiles since my voice literally sounds like I'm 8, if that. Ha.

Looking forward to the post and also, I love your calendar.

in Harry Ainlay Hates Vaginas on Doing Feminism
That is absolutely ridiculous, but I too am absolutely delighted that someone in high school even knew what The Vagina Monologues was. I also agree that it is most definitely fit for a high school audience, in fact, all high school aged-people SHOULD see it, especially since by the time a teenager gets to high school, she has most likely already been sexually harassed, if not worse. Great post.

Cara: All of the times I've voted I was asked for my ID, which I had and it wasn't expired. Bringing a bill with my address on it would work, if my residence on my ID and voter's card was well, my actual residence. I've moved 4 times since I got my last ID and of course, couldn't be bothered to change it from my father's residence to any of mine; I just figured that whenever I renewed it I'd put whatever address I had at the time on that one, no biggie.

I have also come across many women who deny feminism and hate feminism and have no problems talking about how much, but I don't understand it in the least and doubt I will ever be able to wrap my mind around their thought process.
