in Strategy. Focus. Simple. Delivery. Planning on Adam-Jackson.net
Great advice Adam. And the reason I say it's great advice and trust it is because I've done it three times within the past year. I've "re-branded" myself once and so far it's paying off slowly, but it is a lot of work and takes a lot of my time. So sometimes I'll give prior notice and announce that I am taking an iBreak or Blogatical (think sabbatical). Curious, did Ben take your advice?

Facebook User David,
I did take some of it. I was going to reply to this post, but then remembered I was on a break. LOL
-I'm writing more often now that I don't think about having to edit and be "correct" in my writings. It helps to be able to just express myself - bringing myself back to the reason I started blogging in the first place.
-I'm tweeting less, more meaningful things. That may sound odd, but it really does work. I'm not really starting conversations anymore through @replies, but I will reply to people if they say something. I'm kind of abiding by that suggestion half way.
-MeTodays are something I've yet to explore. I don't have a Viddler account, but I'm planning on getting one and just seeing where it goes. It's somewhat similar to why I do 12seconds...
-Ohhhh jeez. I'm not really following the "don't follow many people" thing. :/ I'm actually increasing the number of people I follow. I don't know if it's a really good idea, but I don't plan on un-following people if they don't follow back. If I like someone's content, I'm following until they piss me off. lol
-It's REALLY hard to check email only once or twice since I have my Blackberry now. I find it actually MORE easy to do lots of mini-checks when I see a new email than doing one fell-swoop...

But yes, I'm somewhat abiding the suggestions. I really appreciated them, too. Adam seems to be a master on dos/don'ts of the internet ;)

in Wishing Photos on Blogs were Optional on Adam-Jackson.net
Oh, in regards to daringfireball.net, I have been subscribed to him for a while, but what keeps me from reading it is the dark background (hard on my eyes), and endless lines of texts, so much, that the posts appear to run together. It's a one part aesthetic and one part visual handicap issue for me--primarily the latter. Dark sites hurt my eyes!

I don't mind a pic in every blog post so long as it's tastefully done in a non-obstructive manner. The one's you have above where the photo is floating to the right or the left with the text wrapping around it is a sin in my book--I absolutely hate that style. It's a very newspaper-like layout to me and well, the web is not a newspaper, therefore blogs shouldn't resemble them.

That's just my two and half cents on the matter. ^_^

in Google Reader = Zero! on Brandice.net Blog
I will never be able to do that because I have sooo many things that I have subscribed to. I always feel overwhelmed by my Google Reader, but at the same time I feel the need to have a wealthy supply of distraction when I need it via laptop or iPhone. ^_^

brandice You can ALWAYS do that. Doesn't matter how much you're subscribed you, just have to know how to scrub it all out and clear some of the backed up things when it's gotten too bogged and then you start again. I am already loaded up again, but I have to occasionally clear out the old stuff and start fresh. I never run out of reading material regardless. ;)

Hey Mike and Amanda. Don't know if you guys are subscribers to Arin Crumley's tumblr blog, but I just read this in his recent email. He basically stated that he keeps a spreadsheet listing of theaters across the nation for places to potentially have film screenings.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet: http://www.editgrid.com/user/diy/Digital_Cinema...

And here is the link to Arin's tumbler blog: http://arincrumley.tumblr.com/post/88319693/dig...

Hope this helps.

in Pedal (Blog): building a team on Project Pedal
ok. i know nothing, nada, zippo about screenings and all that stuff (setting them up and what not). but i'll ask around where i go to school (Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale) from the digital film staff. that's as much as i can say. i don't like making promises so this is as far as i can come 'til i learn more. and i'll get back to you.

i guess, i'll tell them about your project and float the idea of a screening and see what happens..??? i don't know... mike let me know what's helpful to you. i'm busy as hell, but i'll try what i can at least. i'm not a film person.

in response to bvp663...i have no ulterior motive. i genuinely want to help...within reason and my time constraints.

mike1630 Ha :) Hey David - you're funny. But thanks so much for asking around on campus about this stuff - you never know, someone there could turn out being a huge help in that area. No promises necessary ;) I think it's awesome you're willing to see what you can find out. Thank you!

But I also don't want you stressing out over us :) we're hoping to build a team of people that have (most importantly) the time to be involved in a project like this... I'd feel awful about guilting just anyone into loosing sleep over this stuff. You're awesome David - let us know if you run into someone promising in FL.

in Taking full advantage of the things you already own on Colin Devroe
I just started utilizing what I've got three weeks ago and it's made a big difference. Granted I did splurge on an expensive video camera...but I didn't own one at the time. I've been borrowing a pretty low quality one. Anyway, I'm utilizing my digital camera (Samsung S85; 8.2 megapixels) more and finally started tapping into the ISO settings, 16:9 vs 4:3, white balancing, metering, quality settings, etc. I still however do not bother with the effects because I think it's limiting later on. For example if I have a photo that I add a tint to via the cameras built in video effects, I will be unable to reverse it in photoshop if I feel the need to change it. So effects are a "NO, NO" to me. Great post.

Thanks Colin!
