in STOP PRESS: ShoZu to start charging! on The Really Mobile Project
Thanks for the mention James. I'm happily using Pixelpipe on a G1 and find it easier to use that to push content online than either Shozu or Share Online on N95-8GB.

Sounds good. There is a lot of knowledge out there about what works and what doesn't and it would be fantastic to share. I'd like to be involved in the meetup if possible.

If you are limiting to 15 then perhaps the criteria should be that attendees have organised some sort of event before or at the very least have one coming up?

in Why TechLudd should stop before it starts - Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist on Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist
Superb idea Marcus, I'd love to see the three perspectives - the startups, the VC and the Press.

And maybe even *cough*, EI :-)

Perhaps the first one could be used to enable to community to voice what they'd like to see in general with networking in Ireland.

Marcus I love the sound of your discussion style meetup.

No-one needs permission to do anything but we all live in the same community so communications and networking (no not Facebook invites) are critical.

But when someone announces an event which is an almost carbon copy of the one run by Web2Ireland without making any contact whatsoever (and given the last part of your comment) then expecting everyone to just line in behind you is unrealistic.

If anyone has any issue with Web2Ireland, maybe they should voice it and try to improve it rather than snubbing those who put huge time and effort into helping the community.

in Why TechLudd should stop before it starts - Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist on Paul Walsh, the Irish Opportunist
I'm always happy to support any initiative that helps the web or business community in any way. Some of them have worked, some haven't, all were worthwhile to attempt.

I would never claim to be a great networker but I just cannot support something which uses phrases like "demobar-style event" when the organisers never even had the manners to contacted the people (no, I'm not one of them) who ran the first wildly successful demobar event. This is networking 101.

Unfortunately despite the great intentions, TechLudd looks like it may factionalise the community rather than be a useful complementary addition to what is going on already.

in Reviews by SMS: LouderVoice on LucaFiligheddu.com
Thanks for the mention Luca. I agree completely with all your feedback and we'll be adding those features in January.

We just enabled formal support for collection of reviews from Jaiku and Twitter yesterday too. They use the same review format as SMS.

I wasn't given any information on this. I believe EI do it by invitation only. You can't even register your interest in attending.

in Why I don’t recommend Cocomment on Scobleizer
I've used a competitor called co.mments.com which launched right after Cocomment and missed a lot of the hype.

It's a very simple and far less intrusive service. You add a simple browser bookmarklet to your links bar which you click whenever you are reading a blogpost whose comments you want to track (you don't have to write a comment).

Any new comments in those posts get added to your RSS feed for tracking. The very rare time the service is down, you just lose the ability to track not to comment.

Works on blogs, Flickr, Digg, Upcoming

Highly recommended.

in PodTech’ers review iPhone on TwitterGram on Scobleizer
In the spirit of experimentation, you can have your TwitterGram reviews indexed by our site LouderVoice.

Just add the Twitter user review as a friend and when you are uploading your TwitterGram, use this format for the title:

@review 5 Heroes TV Series. Audio:

So that's
@review Rating-1-to-5 ReviewItem Period+Space AnyTextYouLikeButWordAudioMakesSense

Within 30 minutes that review can be found, rated, bookmarked and grouped over at LouderVoice with the link always going back to the Tweet.

Here's an example of a Flock review.

Tweet via TwitterGram:

twitter.com/conoro/statuses/141281142

LouderVoice:
loudervoice.com/reviews/508652771

I'll add some auto-tagging of those audio reviews with "twittergram" when I get a chance.

Hope you enjoy.

Of course, I forgot to mention that this is very much just step 1 for our mini-reviews in general.

We thought we'd get the basic thing out there and see what the feedback was. Feel free to meta-review the service using LouderTweets!

Thanks for the coverage Kristen. We want to provide as many ways as possible for people to write reviews so that they can be found.

But the critical difference with us is that we always point to the source. We are not trying to silo anyone's opinions, knowledge or expertise, we're trying to give them a bigger audience.

All of those who have tried LouderTweets so far have been surprised by much detail you can fit in a 140-character review!

Just add "review" as a friend and send a review like so:

@review 5 Mashable web-site. The best social networking news site out there.

So that's @review RatingOutOf5 ItemName. Review text
