It's just like the good old days of DC watching again isn't it!

I think Courtney Tuttle will settle at a PR3 if the results across the network of sites I monitor are to be borne out here too.

I actually think the new PR brings a (very little) of respect back to the green bar (dare I say that) :)

Sites with a more obvious manufactured or irrelevant (?) linking profile / PR (some of mine included) seem to have been hit. I always have a few quality links in any link profile I massage so I didn't get hit too bad (don't sell links either, anywhere).

Good bit of research - will be Sphinning it (that got a PR 6 by the way).

Nice post Andy, and yesterdays.

Andy I have a question that's going round my head but perhaps you have come across before.

If a page has 10 links going to 6 pages, (ie 5 links go to one page each and the other 5 go to the 6th) do you think the "link equity" is split 10 ways (with the 6th page getting the most) or is it split 6 ways evenly to the 6 unique urls?

I spotted this Andy too - I think they are taking the piss lol.

I fell from a greater height (a PR 7) but to be honest, after watching yours go up and down, I now try and forget about TBPR (it's hard).

We don't sell links - never have. The only thing we do when it comes to 'manipulating' serps is dofollow and that is through linky love these days and believe me heavy moderation.

Perhaps it's your ardent support of Dofollow in the early days that got you on the radar?

That aside, your blog's definately a PR 6 or 7. It's a shame because the vast majority of your links you earned by participating in the community or writing decent content - it pisses me of when I see "bonafide" companies still with relatively high PR sites powered by little more than a lot of client sitewides (it seems)or most recently one link from Google analytics 'accreditation' even though they have been outed as spammers on my blog! Shame.

Andy here's an comment / email I got just a day or so ago again....

I am a retired (newly) accountant who has always wanted to work online, and I have a lot of interests, so the question is which one? And all of the unfamiliar subject matter and terminology can be quite daunting, especially anything technical (for me).

I took some time and researched so that I wouldnâ€™t spend a lot of money here and there for this and that.

I decided ultimately to talk to a coach, Mickey Mouse, and this is the best decision I could have made. It has saved me not only money but time, and now I know exactly what direction Iâ€™m headed and the fastest way to get there.

I like the blog and hope to be back.

What p*ssed me off (apart from the fact this was about the 10th comment I had moderated on this post from third parties promoting the same internet guru) was it was a comment on my post, one of many, from various people promoting a paid for product on a post with high rankings that were internet marketing related - but was free advice for small businesses. If that makes sense.

Now you know my history with commenting, I practiced here! But this type of commenting is not intelligent - it's so false it deserves outing and I'd have done it (not to the little guys - to Mickey Mouse) to see how this internet marketing guru did with Online Rep with a domain with a bit of authority - mine.

Disclaimer - Disney's Mickey Mouse is not currently spamming me.

I'm not against comment 'spam' (paid or unpaid) if it is an honest attempt at conversation or adding keywords to my blog for a link - but stupid is stupid and deserves outed sometimes.

This is obviously a linkbuilding strategy with Dofollow blogs, we've all been there (some still are) - but what's needed is a "oh and final lesson, don't p*ss a blogger off cause he'll come after you - and this is what happens" class.

I've got a post in my draft entitled "who the f*&^ is Mickey Mouse" that next time I see a comment for this guy I am pressing the publish button and going out for a beer.

Hi Andy a great post!

For me this is one of the main, if not the most important factors of SEO when considering internal navigation developing sites. I have screwed about with my site AD NAUSEUM testing this out left right and centre of nearly a year. I have some observations to add (including a small criticism lol) I'll do in proper blogging style (which I learned from you!) and link through in the next couple of days.

I've used nofollow, moved links above text with CSS, created sites with no navigation except in content, used mega menus etc etc etc. If you check my site which is a constant test bed you'll see nofollow is long gone apart from some left overs in content and when linking out to some sites. I've made I think some interesting findings and I think the 'secret' of successful internal linking will be a surprise to most and get well criticised - hey as long as people link to me that's ok :)

A great post - I'll be back to read it again later!

I see it all the time.... they are missing out on a lot of traffic. One of my sites gets 800 visitors a day - 50-60% from SEs. Don't they like free traffic? Or have they just been "diddled"?
