in Cell-phone vendor switching killer app on Scobleizer
Well, before you buy the iPhone, I suggest you wait a month or two to see what everyone else says anyway. You're waiting months for it, and one more month won't hurt. iPhone might be so great that this killer app might not outweigh the iPhone's benefits. Personally, iPhone doesn't impress me as it is, but I'm interested in what the reviews will be like in the first month or two after it's released and problems start being discovered by users.

in Steve Jobs alert: Killer Java app for iPhone on Scobleizer
I have to agree with asj. The closed system of the iPhone is going to keep it from competition with other "smart phones." I guess when their target audience is identical to the current iPod users, they just want an iPod with more features so it's not a "phone with a lot of features" but an "iPod with a lot of features."

in Apple iPhone on Laughing Squid
I just don't see the iPhone really hitting it big with "hardcore" cell phone users beacuse cell phones go out of date within 3 months nowadays. iPhone users are most likely going to be the people buying it for style over utility.

in Welcome to Seagate’s “D.A.V.E.”: wireless portable storage on Scobleizer
Maybe the Apple iPhone made their storage capacity a mere 8GB for a reason? Eh, maybe not, but the D.A.V.E is going to be a great supplement to ANY wifi capable cell phone/PDA/wifi camera.

Looks like another program bringing every communication tool we use together. Seems like the world keeps getting smaller, and more convenient.

I don't see IMs replacing calls at all. IMs are convenient, but they're still pretty impersonal in a way. Plus someone going AFK is ANNOYING. Yes, IMS are free and calls long distance may cost money, but with VoIP programs out now, it's probably best to keep IMs to people you don't really have anything to say to, and reserve voice chats/phones for people closer to you.

in Cisco smacks back at Apple on its blog on Scobleizer
This suit has been settled and both Apple and Cisco has "hugged it out", as some bloggers have put it. Both sides are going to work hand in hand to make sure their products will have compatibility with each other. I think that was the original plan to begin with on Cisco's part, otherwise they could have just gone for a monetary gain.

Wow, with all the talk about hybrid phones and everything nowadays, it makes something NEW like this SD WiFi card sound so original and innovative. First cameras, but how bout PDAs? Perhaps a mini SD card to enable VoIP for regular cell phones? This should be the new talk of the town!

in Cable competition apparently not working fast enough on The Technology Liberation Front
I am in disbelief. There's something fundamentally wrong when the basic laws of supply and demand doesn't even apply here. Consumers should not get the short end of the stick without even a say, but in this case, they do.

Yah, the folks commenting about VPN being a secure way to safeguard your wifi connection are right. Site's like http://nationwidevpn.com might be helpful when you want to secure your own network.
