in 10 Ways to Find People on Twitter on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Great list! Here are some Twitter directories specific to teachers and other learning professionals: http://bit.ly/k12twits
Hope that helps!

in Life in the Labs on Chris Brogan
So great! I love that watching you work (with running commentary like this) sometimes helps me understand why I'm doing some of what I'm doing. Just wild.
"Ultimately, the more I give away for free, the more time I have to do the more complex work that I really want to do with you. "
Indeed.
The way I figured this out for myself was through thinking about my "backstage" rather than my "lab," but it feels like the two are related. My backstage is here; I think it's unlikely that anyone would ever be all that interested. But I have learned so much from others' sharings (and not always what they thought they were teaching), so I have this sneaking suspicion that SOMEBODY might be interested, someday. And I don't have any reason to post a security detail at the stage door, so...

in Template for Building a Small Powerful Network on Chris Brogan
Oh, YES, this was just the nudge I needed to start putting together a directory of folks in my field (academic matchmaking, okay, college counseling) who are active in a social media kind of way.
Yet ANOTHER project that will keep my fingers on the keyboard over the upcoming "break."
But too great NOT to do.
Thanks as always for your positive, "you can do this" attitude, as well as your nuts and bolts "howto" tips.

Thanks, Shel. I was just roaming the ranks of the shutterbugs on Flickr and I saw this picture. Then the words started coming.

Hi Mike, and thanks for transparently sharing your taking in of these ideas.
What kinds of social network connections can/will we make within this course context?
How will we self-identify, and how will we recognize other members of our tribe(s)?
I feel like I'll be reaching out on all kinds of levels, and I liked what you said earlier about the ways in which establishing personal goals can help with the process of figuring out who you might need in your personal learning network. Then there's the serendipity factor...
in peace,
Shelley

in Customer Service Hoops on Chris Brogan
@Katybeth True that! When my luggage went AWOL on a trip home last year, the auto-message at the MISSING BAGGAGE DEPARTMENT said "thank you for your call," and I was constantly tempted to yell "I don't have a CHOICE!"
@Bill that sounds like it's headed in the right direction... yay!
And Chris, as we say in Quaker Meeting sometimes, "That Friend speaks my mind."

in Saying No on Chris Brogan
Now I see why it was difficult to write... because it's difficult to do!
But good on you, Chris... both for sharing your thought-process and for showing the way in which stepping back can simultaneously be a move which honors others' voices.
Thank you for continuing to live into your gifts, and for doing so in such a helpfully public way.

in The Community Ecosystem on Chris Brogan
Okay, except it's actually http://collegelists.pbwiki.com
I just shouldn't try to type this early in the morning!
College counselors all over the country compile "specialty" lists of colleges (colleges with observatories, colleges with summer programs in architecture, etc. etc.) and a friend of mine and I compiled a bunch of them here.

My current little contribution to my slice of the working world is http://collegelist.pbwiki.com.
No time to say more just now because I'm busy contributing to my kid's Easter memories.
But thanks for YOUR work, and I'll be seeing you in my RSS feed and Twitter stream.

in Free eBook Manifesto - Trust Economies on Chris Brogan
Yay, Chris, so pleased for you that your blog is back up! Will try to take a look at the manifesto sometime this coming week.
And companies that don't blog probably don't because 1) they don't "get it" and/or 2) they lack the culture of openness and trust that is implied in such a non-hierarchical kind of communication. Who will post, who will approve the posts, what if we say something we shouldn't have, what if we don't have anything to say, blah blah blah. Also, inertia and denial of change. ("We never needed a blog before, why do we need one now?")
