It's not that I disagree, but practically speaking, it can take hours and hours to get a return call for a comment or quote. Sometimes you have to go with what you have and update with additional information later. It's particularly true in the political world, where responses can be slow in coming. With a deadline looming and still no return call or email, what does one do? Tell the boss to "hold the presses"? In real-life journalism, the ideal sometimes collides with the practical and the necessity.

i know chris to be a kind and generous kid so i cant believe any of this spoiled son of a cop nonsense. the person who wrote that obviously has something against chris or his family for some pathetic reason.

these cops which many people have already come on here and talked about how the spd has one of the worst reputations around are being let off the hook because of who chris is related to. the fact is he took a beating while handcuffed by the police. if another person did that to a defenseless person theyd probably be charged with attempted murder. they broke ribs and messed up his face bad. im disappointed in the whole community for there not being more of an outrage. maybe the reason he seemed intoxicated was because he was shaken up from being hit by a taser.

to the person who said that the police dont need obvious proof that he had internal possesion of alcohol like a failed breathalizer, how do they find him guilty? all they have to say is he had a beer in his hand? sounds pretty easy to get away with.

seems pretty convenient that all the injuries the police had were all suffered at the station when mr. getchell was already handcuffed. as someone not personally involved in this it seems like there were just too many questionable things in this article to think that there was no wrong doing by the salem police. in fact it seems more likely that this article is being used to help cover up police brutality and if one of the cops father really writes for the tribune thats very interesting. does anyone know anything about that?

why don't we talk more about how eagle tribune writer jim patton is the father of captain shawn patten. it's easy to see how they let the salem police flat out lie about what happened.

think about it they beat a kid and now they know there will be repercussions. so they float this bs story to the tribune to cover their behinds. jim patten being the father of captain shawn patten(capt. shawn patten btw was one of the main people to beat down mr. getchell) probably was able to pull some strings to have the tribune put out this over the top article full of lies.

The Fuller playground was highjacked from Fuller before the corpse was cold. The kids in the after school program are still upset that they don't have a place to play. What is going on at Fuller right now?? The School Committee and the Mayor have sat on the Fuller School since June and have not done anything with it. Why is nobody talking about that? Who is going to pay the heating bills on that building this winter? No revenue coming in because they can't lease out the offices without city council approval. Sam Park wanted to rent out the space but can't because the School Committee didn't do their homework and didn't know you can't lease out space for non-educaional purposes without rezoning and this takes the City Council to approve. The School Committee relies on the Mayor to hold their hands on everything but guess what she is busy being the MAYOR and can do the job the School Committee members were elected to do. Plum Cove deserves a lot of credit for taking advantage of the School Committee and the School Administration in getting the equipment. Can the proposed new charter school take over the Fuller building if it is still in the hands of the Schools? I hear they are going to call the new charter school the Sam Park School.........

Look, whether you're talking about construction, meat packing and many other jobs, American citizen workers didn't walk away and decide they didn't want those jobs any more. They were fired, and replaced with cheaper, illegal labor. Those jobs used to lift American citizens out of poverty, now they are given to illegals who openly underbid the wages, and then turn around and demand welfare subsidies because they "don't earn enough". Facts are that when citizens worked those jobs, they weren't collecting welfare.

You can't claim to care about human rights, when you excuse the very actions that are violating the human rights and the civil rights of American citizens. That's what gets so many Americans ticked off.. those who wouldn't deign to soil their lily white, affluent hands doing manual labor assume because they wouldn't do those jobs, no one else in the country would. Those jobs are the difference between life and death for many, many American citizens. Try getting out in the real world and talking to some. They didn't win the powerball and move to Beverly Hills, or just disappear from the face of the earth. Many of them are barely keeping a roof over their heads, or have become homeless, while the so called "progressives" blather on making excuses for violating the laws that are in place to protect citizens from being exploited and discriminated against by the corporate interests said "progressives" claim to be taking a stand against.

You don't eradicate poverty south of the border, by excusing the status quo that helps maintain that poverty, nor does imposing that status quo here achieve that. Yet that is all your excuses achieve. Is it any wonder that "progressives" are so reviled these days?

The only protected AAC tunes on an iPod are from the iTunes store.
And the numbers say that the total amount of songs bought from iTunes store per iPod is pretty low- 1 billion songs sold on 42 million iPods- around 24 per pod.

I think the general public is still using mp3's very much, all my friends have all their mp3's from the last 10 years playing fine on their 'pods.

If you have no taste buds and a huge stomach, then go to Maltby Cafe. Otherwise, even Applebee's has better tasting food. And the ambience is non existant - as is the service. As is the though put into the waiting area (no chairs, packed with people that have not read these reviews yet, line for paying is the same line as that for waiting and you wait to do BOTH. Also, if you have the apple FCP 5 suite, compressor w/qmaster will node up all your macs.

I can put any video I want on my ipod, I just have to repurpose it to the right format .m4v- there are quite a few mac apps that can do that.
I can rip dvd's, etc and use them on the pod very easily.

I just can't (well I could using a screen capture app) use WIndows drm video.

I am glad that our young players have someone like Troy to idolize. Win or lose on Sunday Troy will stand with class and humility, and pride for his job well done. Thank you Mr. Palamalu for giving us someone to not only admire but for our children to aspire to be.

Beck is presenting info the rest of the media won't b/c? He wants to throw his show into the dumps, I don't think so, he is worried about the future of this country and guys like Van Jones are worth worrying about.

I don't want anyone who once was or is a communist being an advisor to our president. And if jones is just the green jobs czar then why is he recently talking about healthcare? seems like that has nothing to do with green jobs.

Obama said himself look at the people who surround me and then see who I am. Looking at Jones says not a lot of good things people.
