in What a difference a year can make! on adam.riggins
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Way to go! At one point in time we were about the same weight and both in the active process of losing it. I totally fell off that wagon. Yikes. Now I'm back at it, and seriously not going to give up this time. Your story is ridiculously motivational. It's funny that you posted this the 2nd day of me back in hardcore get healthy mode. Again, way to go.

adamriggins That's awesome. I fell off the wagon at Thanksgiving and man, was it hard getting back on. But you have some good motivating factors... a wife, children... that will get you there. Good luck man, let me know of your progress!

Is it still "redneck" if it's not a truck, but instead an old boat of a car? ;-)

adamriggins I think it's even MORE redneck!

in Same Side Sitters on adam.riggins
That's what your couch at home is for! If you have to be that close, get a table and sit on the same corner. These people make me think of the couples in high school (or even college) who had to hold hands as they walked in and out of the classroom, or even as they walked up front to turn in papers.

adamriggins I agree with you. The "same corner" idea is a very good compromise. You're close, but not disgustingly close. And I'm all about holding hands. It's a great thing. But for goodness sakes, not all the time.

Very nice! The server's really slow right now, on my desktop or my phone. But the mobile theme is very snazzy.

in 10 Shoes You Should Never Be Caught Wearing on adam.riggins
Ah man, I love my Skate Shoes. ~$20 at Target every 2-3 years.

And for the record, flip flops are EVIL. How can you wear something so noisy?

I have to say I love the new theme. Very, very nice.

FYI, the bottom COMMENT link on whatever your newest post by be at the time doesn't seen to work.

Love this theme though, ;)

Dirty Pop's a good song. Celebrity as a whole was a decent album if I remember correctly.

Not sure I can overlook this Mmmm Bop business though. Tsk, tsk.

in Try this next time you’re in traffic on adam.riggins
I have to admit, I dislike it when people leave that kind of room in front of them at a red light. When the person in front of me inches forward, I VOLUNTARILY do it too because I know someone coming from a parking lot, ally, or other intersection might need some room to get in at the end of the line.

I'm all for experimenting in the name of social science though. ;-)

It's because they haven't invented an affordable way for me to drink coffee before I wake up.

in Poster from the new Star Trek movie on adam.riggins
I'm a huge fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation, and I tolerated the original series while enjoying the original movies. I'm looking forward to this, but won't be going to any midnight showings or wearing my Star Fleet uniform.

in How much does it cost you to drive one mile? on adam.riggins
I keep tabs on my mpg for every tank, so using my average around-town mpg and the current cost of gas at the corner, I'm looking at 16 cents a mile.

in Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be on adam.riggins
I remember high school (late 90's) when gas was under $1 for a while. Still, I remind people that with inflation, gas could be MUCH more expensive than it is now. And decades ago when it was just a few dollars cheaper, car were much less fuel efficient too. We've taken gas for granted for a long time now.

Between Digg, Boing Boing (and Boing Boing Gadgets), Lifehacker, IO9...well, you get the idea: my Google Reader is rarely empty. When I'm having a REALLY slow day and do empty all the non-podcast feeds, I move on to podcasts (like TWiT or TAL).

As a last resort, I can almost always lose myself in Wikipedia, starting with a person, movie, book, something like that and just keep digging further down through the related links.

Background isn't a deal breaker. And no, haven't seen The Happening yet, but will someday. Did you see/like "Lady In The Water"? I've known hardcore Shyamalan fans who didn't like Lady, but I loved it.

And yes, that's a very Kaufman logo pic, and very cool.

I don't care for the textured background...feels a little 90's. But I like the dark color and borderless style. Definitely a step up!

In Iowa, the cheapest gas is usually the mid-octane stuff (89/90). Probably has something to do with ethanol subsidies. Just thought I'd share that!

I was just thinking about this as I listened to Counting Crows' "Insignificant" this morning. I'm sure you can pick up on what I'm talking about there. Always great when a band does these and does them well.

Tommy Boy, of course. I've been waiting for fridges in cars ever since I became a dad and had to worry about sippy cups of milk spoiling. Hopefully this will get a good response and spread to other manufacturors while getting much cheaper.
