Who reads newspaper anymore? ;) ]

My 4-year undergraduate degree (at top-rated NE school) and 3-year law school degree (also top-rated) cost a total of $14,000, the 10-year 3% student loans included.

Do I expect anything less than a graduate degree for my kids? Of course not. Will it be worth the $400,000 price tag? Never.

Your premise that a college degree+ at all costs, at the risk of losing sight of the big picture, has much merit. For those who are not upper middle class the myth that a college degree is the GPS to a pot of gold remains as strong as the myths of religion and politics and hard work leading to success. Myths die very hard. Can we say "Buy and Hold"?

Middle class families believe the "sacrifice" of mortgaging all to the walls to get the kids a 'good college education' is just one more cost of living in the 21st century. They are blind to the reality that the business of college is not to educate but to perpetuate the college business. Education is merely a by-product. Just like the business of the pharmaceutical companies is to make money for their shareholders. Keeping people less sick is merely a by-product.

Years ago, when people still read business magazines printed on paper, there was a column in which the (very wealthy) author posited the same thesis: college is a waste a time for most attendees and that it rarely results in achieving advancement in the 'real world'. The Gates, Dell, Jobs examples were thrown out as exceptions too.

The real problem, as I see it, is that average middle class parents would be guilt-ridden if they didn't buy Junior a college degree, even though they know the family cannot afford it.

Unfortunately, your cautionary vision will not be read by the very people who need to heed it. Instead, it is being read by the handsome/beautiful, above-average intelligence StockTwits-community ilk, who know better. Living within one's economic means is Life Job #1.

Re: Use ETFs to Ride the Commodity Wave - TheStreet

The correct symbol for the Global X Copper Miners is COPX, not CPX.

Re: http://thisisbigger.com/2010/11/18/starting-over/

Bella and Spence deserved a separate bullet-point. While my cardio was fine there was little physical changes. The results after just 1 month were visible to me (lost 14 lbs and look 5 years younger) and generated many favorable comments from total strangers at the club. If you can get your hands on the DVDs and the Diet and Fitness books you ought to try it. The Sat sessions are brilliant. I've told Howard you deserve a raise.

Re: P90X FAQ - Dan Dascalescu's Wiki

A friend, who is an MD, has lent me the DVDs and books.
