That's 9+ million potential viewers mostly in the target age demographic that aren't watching the show, because they can't.

Re: No More Van Halen Instrumentals

That was sarcasm. Also, VH isn't on Warner anymore, so I'm not sure they have all that much control over stuff on official WB channels. I'm sure Eddie will still take those Van Hagar royalty checks even as they airbrush Mikey out of old album artwork.

Re: Unearthed: Van Halen Demo with Mitch Malloy – “It’s The Right Time”

He would've been a good choice in 1985. In 1996, I don't think it would've fared any better than VH3. A big-haired, high-voiced blonde singer just wouldn't have fit in in the late 90's, and it would've made VH look old and out-of-touch, rather than a band making new, relevant music.

Eddie was still writing all the music, and little of it was particularly commercial. It had lots of interesting guitar work, but there's only so much a singer can do with music lacking much in the way of hooks or choruses. I don't think it would've made a difference, although Mitch has a great voice and probably would've done really well singing the old tunes.

Re: No More Van Halen Instrumentals

Silly VHND. You posted stuff from the Sammy era. According to the VH camp, you're not allowed to acknowledge that anything outside of 1978-84 and 2007-15 ever happened. Anything in the intervening years is just a figment of your (and Michael Anthony's) imagination. You are getting sleeeeepy...

Re: Blake Shelton Annotates Lyrics for Genius: His 10 Best

What's the point of someone 'annotating' lyrics for 20 songs they had absolutely nothing to do with writing?

Re: TestFlight for Loud (formerly 'SmartPlayer')

Would love to help test.
walrusoct9@gmail.com

Re: Ryan Adams transforms Taylor Swift’s 1989 into a melancholy masterpiece

Then why doesn't she still do that?

Re: Ryan Adams transforms Taylor Swift’s 1989 into a melancholy masterpiece

I am only talking about this particular auto-tune abomination, which would not remotely exist of Taylor had been left to her own devices. It has nothing to do with Taylor being a woman, but everything to do with how pop music is made. Taylor Swift is like the Barry Bonds of songwriting...yeah, she was there, but everything she's done in the last few years should have an asterisk next to it when crediting her.

The world is filled with hundreds upon hundreds of brilliant female artists who don't need an army of producers and professional songwriters to do 90% of the work for them, and I wish they were celebrated as much as these anonymous producers' creations for Taylor/etc are.

Re: Ryan Adams transforms Taylor Swift’s 1989 into a melancholy masterpiece

You misspelled "Max Martin's songwriting."

Re: Weekend Rock Question: What's the Best Pearl Jam Deep Cut?

"Release," maybe? The overwhelming corporate stench permeates every part of it, from the rude staff to the "pay more to eat our crappy food and get in front of the line" scheme to the kitchy faux-southern menu and decor, and the way the floor staff herds every patron out like cattle the second a show ends...it was always a sad day given the number of amazing mid-sized venues in Chicago when one of our favorite bands would end up at the HOB.

Re: Genesis: Come Rain Or Shine

Honestly, I kind of regret watching this doc. I was grateful that the tour happened, as it was also the only chance I ever had to see Genesis live, and enjoyed the show in Chicago. But the underlying feeling that Phil was slightly phoning it in and didn't really want to do the tour seemed to be confirmed by this documentary. I definitely got the vibe that he only agreed to the tour to fund his divorce and collect one last big payday....or that he agreed to a small-scale reunion and it spiraled into a large-scale stadium tour against his wishes.

I could be way off base, just the feeling I got from watching this. I wish Phil still had the desire to make music, since I definitely felt like Tony & Mike would've wanted to continue Genesis past the tour if they could've.

Re: http://www.morganautumn.com/post/12872241987

If I had to explain "why Morgan is awesome" to someone, I'd just link to this.
