(I had to skip some pyramids :/ I just couldn't get there otherwise) It says game over, but a fraction of a second later, I complete stage 16 and it tells me I win. Is it legit??

Btw, thanks for the huuuge time waster. But it also seems like really important knowledge to avoid some rather unpleasant culture shock. Culture shock can be an enlightening and humbling experience, but I think I'd like to keep it away from my private areas.

Re: How to NOT find a Japanese language partner

The hook picture is goooooold. The amount of thought put into this is really impressive. I don’t have something to say about all of it, but I do have a bit of a reply.

#1 - I think that incremental change is necessary, and revolutionary change probably would cause logistical chaos because we aren’t currently in an adaptable system. This follows the software analogy as well. Change there was incremental as well, right?

We just need to be careful in how we proceed with incremental change, because incremental change provides a much larger possibility for “doing the wrong things righter.” I think incremental change is safer and is the way to go, we just have to be wary of making sure that we’re moving in the right direction

#2 - I’m afraid I can only speak on the US in this case, so I apologize for alienating the rest of the world! Fortunately or unfortunately (whatever your opinion may be), we live in a meritocracy. Whether you’re talking about graduating from top schools, or simply our A-F grading system, other people need a way to recognize your accomplishments and gauge your capability and usefulness to their company, school, etc. Although it’s entirely possible that the person who watched Yale’s online lectures knows more material than the person who took that class at Yale, there’s no proof, no credential, to show that the person who watched the online lectures knows anything at all.

Growing up in a culture both in my school and home that supports this type of meritocracy, I find it difficult to imagine a system that exists without it.

However, I like the idea of an open credit system, as mentioned on edupirate. In this kind of system, the person who watched the online lectures from Yale may finally be given similar consideration to the person who graduated from Yale. I think that there are some serious logistical issues that need to be worked out before we could transition to a system like this (money, etc), but I think that it will be possible to change, and when we do, it will be extremely beneficial to society.

#3 - This point really goes hand in hand with #2. A system of credentialing is controlled, just how the market for education is largely controlled. An efficient, open market for education faces some of the same logistical problem as moving away from a system of credentialing does. I think that both problems could probably be solved simultaneously.

#5 - YES! This point screams truth at me, and I think it’s very close to realization. Multimedia is extremely efficient. Personally, utilizing offline and online education together helps me learn best in a variety of subjects. Allowing the student to draw from various resources means that they can seek out what’s best for them and reinforce what they’ve learned by experiencing it in more than one way.

Our current system revolves around offline education, so I think the educational industry needs to work further on incorporating online education into the current system. This is obviously underway already, from sites like eduFire to individual teachers or professors uploading information (or lectures, as mentioned earlier) onto the web.

I don’t believe that offline education should be done away with, as it provides some great benefits as you mentioned, but the benefits of online education definitely make online education more than worth while. In addition to the convenience of the net and the wealth of information available on it, I think the global learning environment you mentioned is particularly important. The majority of schools can be rather homogenous, but even the most diverse schools don’t offer the difference of perspective that online education does. Through lessons here on eduFire, I’ve had the opportunity of speaking with people from other parts of the world not just about the subject matter, but about other issues as well. I feel that experiences like this are invaluable to well rounded education, making online education essential!

#8 - I think that this is also key. Our current system is not terribly adaptable; it’s becoming outdated in our current world. With the wealth of resources available to us, I think education could be change for the better and made largely more efficient. It’s not going to happen overnight. In fact, it will probably take years, but we’re on our way. The important thing is that people are trying to make it happen, and where there’s a will, there’s a way.

EDIT: Whoa, sorry, that's a rather long comment. My friend who DID watch the show dragged me to it, and he was severely disappointed even after my warning from what I'd heard here.

On the other hand though, I thought this was considerably better than the newest street fighter movie. THAT was really bad, but this entertained me.

And I thought Goku was waaaay funnier than piccolo. Some of his lines were ridicccuuulooous.
