Hi Chaps,

I've just phoned 2 three stores and both reported the handset being £369 + £10 min top up, so £380!

This is crazily cheap! £120 cheaper than buying it from Nokia sim free, BUT with the added bonus of having 3's unlimited Skype client built in!

I'm going to get one tomorrow morning and put my 3 contract sim in.

Happy days......

Firstly, congratulations for moving the business forward. I too am sad that I will loose my "fix" of MIR, however, I for one am more than willing to pay £15 per month for the privilege.

All I need now is some more people to join me. COME ON PEOPLE.

2 years ago I was just a "normob", until 3 launched X Series. In late Dec 2006 I bought myself an X-Series Gold contract, complete with a shiny new N73 and slingbox.

I can honestly say since then I have become immersed in the mobile data world, and very shortly after buying X-Series Gold started to read the old smstextnews site on a daily basis. I feel that we have all been on a truly great journey together, and I will miss all the banter and good times.

Well said - in real terms it's simply not gioing to make any difference whatsoever unless you buy a "big ticket" item, like a car or new kitchen etc...

In my life, the VAT cut is just about useless. I calculated that my normal weekly shop at my local supermarket has dropped by £1.25! Thats not going to stimulate me to restart the ecomony by spending large on goods!

It's not all bad though, my INQ1 that I will buy in the next few days has dropped by almost £2! Now maybe if I spent that extra £2 at Wollworths* I might save them too..........

Good question, and I think 3 should make the answer a bit clearer on their website. 3 only charge £5 month extra for "Internet Max", available on any price plan for 1GB of data. (Effectivly making it unlimited) Look in the section "add ons"

3 stores tell me that they expect to get them in stock for Thu 4th. The fact that their website's now showing them as available for pre order matches that pretty well.

For me it's the deep integration of all the social networking sites that make this the most exciting phone of the run up to Christmas.

Forgive me if I cross post something from my inq1 blog into here, it sums up how I feel about the phone nicely.

The main feature is the deep integration of facebook. I don't just mean a web browser that links to the site – no, this is a client based application. In plain English that means all the info, your contacts, your wall, your news feed etc is stored on the phone itself.

It means you can still look around facebook and poke mates, respond to messages, in fact do anything while out of reception, and the next time you wander back into reception it will automatically sync back up, actioning all of your pokes, whatever in fact. Very handy if you ever use your phone on the tube.

Another benefit of this is that all access is instant. Click on your news feed or your wall for example and they will instantly appear with all their respective data, as it's stored on the handset. Very clever indeed.

And the integration doesn't end there. All your facebook friends will be imported into your phone book, linking their current profile picture and status with their entry. If they change their profile pic, it will automatically change on your handset. Instantly. No user intervention required.

If someone sends you a facebook message, it will appear in a central messages area, along with all your text messages. You will have the choice to reply either by text or facebook message or call them. Equally when looking through your phone book, you will have the option to call, text, poke or Facebook message them.

This is the sort of deep integration that's getting the mobile industry excited at the moment.
Couple that with unlimited free Skype calls built in, and unlimited free windows live messenger too, it's good times ahead for the INQ brand.

I can't believe it was 2 years ago today that I got my N73 with its (then) revolutionary Slingbox and X-Series Gold.

I think it was the beginning of a turning point in the industry, something the more established players could no longer ignore, people wanted genuine internet access on their handsets - and this signalled the end of the walled garden.

Thinking about it - to this day what other networks offer 1gb of data for just £5 - I can't think of any.

Good thought provoking post Ricky.

I'm hoping three will recalculate my bills down to the new 15% rate of VAT, however I believe that they will increase the price plan to give the same overall amount. Can't really see the networks breaking away from their nicely rounded £15 / £20 £25 etc... per month figures.

I hope to be suprised, but am not holding my breath.

Excellent review - the single, only drawback I can see, is the small 2.2" screen. I may wait for the next generation of this before parting with some cash.

How refreshing Hutchinson are - think back to the good old days of orange and line two, then with 3 and later X-Series, now with INQ and their revolutionary handset(s), exciting times indeed.

Why on earth doesn't the rest of industry pull its finger out and start inovating like them on a regular basis?

My interest is two fold – what the future holds for inq, both hardware wise and o/s wise, (is / was Android on their radar, or just Brew) and the second is purely selfish – the browsing experience outside of facebook for normal web stuff, if you could capture this I would be very pleased indeed!
I’m also wondering how many types of inq devices they anticipate making over the next few years – they obviously feel there is a gap in the market for data driven handsets – what volumes are they hoping to shift?

After having used the Skypephone S2 for a couple of weeks I am seriously thinking of using the INQ1 as my main handset from now on, but please could you focus on the browsing experience, (outside of facebook too), I spend my life using the internet on the move - very important to me. (Quality of browser, ability to zoom into pages and rotate screen etc....)

I'm hopeful that your router will arrive for you on Thursday, however the comment "They haven't a system in place to notify them and are relying on customers to call them or else they are assuming that people have received them!" worries me greatly.

What sort of shit way to run a company is that?

Despite claiming my cancellation under the 14 day policy I'm sure that something else will go wrong for me, how about not refunding the £35 router cost without a fight???

Hi Jim,

Today I finally lost my temper with 3 sales. I too was told almost every day that it would be despacthed that day, only for it never to appear. Well today I spoke to someone who told me that she would call me back by 5pm with a straight answer. At 5.10pm I phoned back as no phone call was forthcoming, only to be told I was a liar! The lady changed her story to say she only said she would call back if there was any news to impart! What shit customer service.

Needless to say I have asked for a cancellation of this modem/router contract within my 14 days allowance. They will also refund the £35 for the router that never appeared.

This is a very sad day indeed as I have 4 current contracts with three, one laptop one, a mobile, a usb modem one and a skypephone S2 - all on contract. (Used for work)
So as a customer with 4 contracts trying to enter his 5th, what a shit way of treating me - I wont be leaving 3 as they are still the best for data based products, but what a sour ending to my router story.

By the way - they have no routers currently sat here in the UK, thats the reason none of us got ours. Why oh why did they keep telling me that they were sending me one out every day?
Answer - just bullshit the customer to get them off the phone.

If I want any extra contracts, in future I will use a three shop.

Is anyone else still waiting for their router to arrive? I ordered mine online and the usb modem arrived on Friday 17th but still no Router. Every time I call them they say they have none in stock ready for distribution, only shop stock around the UK????

Has anyone got their router delivered that was ordered online?

VERY FRUSTRATING !!!!!!!!!!
PS - they were quick enough to take the money from my card.

Since sending this over - I've stumbled across this killer fact about the router.

It has a BATTERY inside it : (950mAh LiP)!!!!

This rechargeable battery means that you could set up a wireless hotspot anywhere without power, think of the uses?

3UK are getting so much right at the moment - kudos to them on so many levels.
