More likely would be a newly established Club Fed down Gitmo way.

Re: The Children, The Poor Children

Endy, do you stinque.com?

Re: Comrade Can You Spare $2 Trillion?

Anyone read Matt Taibbi's piece in the latest RS, the one with Metallica on the cover? He really saved up his stash of invective for the Talibunny, but really nails the nut of the problem: we are a nation that only puts down its bag of Family Sized Doritos long enough to change the channel.

Re: World Financial Markets At a Glance

@KG, Cubbie: I for one am glad to see Pat Paulsen finally getting the leadership chance he has fought for for many years. Oh wait, what?

BTW, KG, you can thank me later for the Pirates rolling over in extra innings. Although when you have to take the Bucs into extra innings during a pennant race, you're in deep shit for the playoffs.

Re: I’ll Broaden My Exposure If You Short Your Position

Here's my understanding:

Morales was already trying to crack down on the "low landers" (he's the first indigenous President, from the altiplano) for a land grab or oil/gas grab, when some (spontaneous?) anti-guvmint rioting opened up in the north. These weren't trucked in "europeans" but rather other indigenous peeps, sometimes called "rival gangs". Somehow Bush's brilliant foreign policy experts decided this was a good time to get pissy about non-compliance with the "war on drugs", so Morales said "vete al carajo tio Sam" and booted the Ambassador under suspicion that he was aiding the riots in the north. Chavez in Venezuela had a standing alliance pact with Morales so he booted out the American ambassador in solidarity.

I'm deeply in love with Latin America, and agree that Morales was muy simpatico on the Daily Show, but I've always considered Chavez an ass. Kind of like the Knack to Castro's Beatles.

Re: The War on Boomers

@RML: Off to the Great Gig in the Sky.

I grew up watching the Three Stooges on a b&w television, and the closest thing to a remote was when my dad said "Hey TonyNabiscoRamone, change the channel for me would ya?".

I've never looked back.

Re: Keeping it in the Family

Wait, what makes you think I'd read the New York Times? If I were Barry, I'd go balls out on a massive infrastructure rebuild plan out of the gate, something tangible that few people can gripe about. Health care too soon would gum up the works like it did with L'il Abner, and the war crimes tribunal can wait until mid-term elections.

Re: Fed Nationalizes Wall Street

I miss Nabisco, and fear that he is wandering the streets of lower Manhattan, cap in hand, loins girded with worthless Lehman paper.
