Seriously plz let's just get past this mess. Either way I hate Sampson because after giving him a chance he should have followed the rules, simple as that. You can make X number of calls per week, X number of visits, you can't have your assistant call than 3-way you in or hand off to you: don't break 'em. I understand I do not have a complete understanding of the rules but he should have come NOWHERE NEAR the gray areas that may and probably do exist.

I forgot to count my wife,so that makes it 24 cans. I'm not really upset about the increase because I will be able to provide. It's just the fact that I have to start thinking about how the economy is effecting everyone, and this is possibly the only chance for families to see the Hoosiers this year in person due to not having money. You can still be a diehart fan and not have any money. Even people in need would like to have the opportunity too.

I know I supported volleyball, but you don't HAVE to do anything. Last year I showed up well after the volleyball had ended and even after the women's festivities had begun. The Atheletics Department is just trying to use the basketball to draw more fans for another sport, but by no means does this suggest you have to be there by 5:30 or you can't get in.

I like the spirit, but I sure hope IU never has to degrade itself to the point of using sideshows and mascots to draw people to games. This is still BigTen football after all.

Three cans is an increase from previoius years, and as a student only providing for one, it doesn't affect me in a profound way, or at least not like it would affect a family of 7. Still an extra 7 canned goods could cost you only $3 to $7 dollars more, depending on what you want to donate.

You're right 8781, and I didn't mean to suggest that student attendance was particularly poor, but I know a lot of students consider tailgating to be the only gameday experience and consider actually going to the game almost laughable. Some of those third downs yesterday against MSU got loud, it was fun. And yes, it would be nice to see the rest of the stadium join in more regularly.

The student section is usually filled pretty well and always rowdy and loud. The rest of the stadium, however, is like a funeral. The students are doing their jobs, and have since I've been here (2005).

I agree jgong. It would be really nice to see more students actually attending football games. I'm not sure how exactly it could be done, but there has to be some way to get corral students from the tailgating fields into Memorial Stadium.

As for the volleyball, my cousins best friend was on the team last year and I went to a few matches. 12 girls in short spandex shorts is almost never a bad thing, and the game is pretty fast paced. I'm not saying I will be showing up at 5:30, but there could be worse options.

...and exactly how does Bill Lynch demonstrate what is wanted? Then why was he hired? As I always say, " don't look at what people say but at what they do, if you want to see what hey really believe." Bill Lynch has and does not fill any of Greenspan's stated requirements to be hired.

Glad to see IU is using every available, ahem, recruiting resource during these on-campus visits.

Ship a verbal from Muniru or Braswell sometime in the next week or so and I will be a happy fan. Although all the recruits coming in next year will still be freshmen, add that to the current freshmen with a year or experience and my senior year will be a lot more exciting than I was expecting it to be a few months ago. I can thank Tom Crean for that.

Slightly saddening article in Tuesday's IDS about the state of IU athletics. Between our flagship sport getting back on track under Crean and the new facilities scheduled completion over the next couple years, lets hope IU is on its way back to the top of the BigTen.

I like it, but I think shooting him is almost too easy of an out for Sampson. There has to be some way to punish him before he gets killed off...I'm thinking scrubbing toilets in the dorms at IU every weekend and at Assembly Hall and Memorial stadium after game days?

Either way, pretty impressive stats. Only a junior in Bloomington now, so he was well before my time, but this entire countdown has been great for a young'un like myself to learn more about some Hoosier legends. Nice idea/work gentlemen.

Been reading for a year now, going to try to start posting and giving back to ths great site. Among the first I check everytime I get on the internet. Thanks.

i <3 tom crean...i know izzo coaches a bigten rival but any school in america should be happy to have him--and crean is an izzo disciple..young, can recruit, been to a final four, has experience in a big time conference...i have been calling for crean since october when the sampson drama first started and can only hope hes an option and hed have to consider coming to a basketball institution

i dont see purdue having a much better year than they had this year, granted you get better as u get more experience...but i feel like they played above and beyond how they should have this year and this coming season will be pretty much the same..im not looking forward to them being at the top of the bigten the next 2-3 years, but i dont think etwaun is gonna have games like he had @ illinois consistently or that they can grow tremendously...they will be good, but not the dominant team purdue fans are dreaming about right now

i agree with most of this, however i think i speak for most IU fans especially, but fans of any team for that matter, when i say that sweet 16 and elite 8 are nice...but to really keep me and this fan base satisfied final fours and nat'l championships MUST be in the picture, at least every so often

It seems like Sampson staying on, rather than Sampson getting fired, may be the bigger hindrance to Ebanks playing here anyway.

I agree, the new coach will be given at least a chance to hold onto him. Ebanks seemed really dedicated to coming here back when the original report came out in the fall. Here's to hoping whoever has the reins after the season is likeable/prestigious/persuasive enough that Sampson's departure won't be the cause for the departure of a player I have been very much looking forward to see suit up for the cream 'n crimson next season.
