It's an awful feeling and I hope you're able to recover it soon. I did same as you and used Lost Mode. I just kept using that same message area to send the messages to the phone hoping it would ping it each time. It will not show up on the screen till the phone connects to Wi-Fi. I don't recall deactivating it though, but we did activate one of our older iPhones that one of the kids was using as a stand-in for my husband to use. In our case, the device was wiped when we recovered it and the only thing allowed on the screen was the last Lost Mode message I sent. I'm not sure how, but they must have connected it to Wi-Fi at some point. That does leave me wondering how the phone was able to connect to a wi-fi network or if the same connectivity that allows 911 calls to happen is the same connectivity that allows Lost Mode messages to come through? I just kept pinging it over and over. The person who had the phone was unable to use it due to Activation Lock. I documented my adventures here: http://www.themacmommy.com/...

Re: Tip of the Day: Find Your Lost iPhone, Even if the Battery Has Died

Don't give up hope. Just keep it in Lost Mode and send messages to it every so many hours, days or weeks. I have recovered two stolen iPhones. The first within 24 hours with Find My iPhone and the help of local police. The second was six months later with Find My iPhone and the assistance of local police to supervise the exchange. In the case of the second theft, the phone had changed hands and been sold by middle school kids several times and finally a mom or girlfriend (really not sure which) decided to answer the message I'd sent to the phone offering a reward. We had to spend $50 to get the phone back. To some of you it may not be worth it, but it was worth it to me for the experience to see what it was like to get a phone back and restore it. No data was ever lost or compromised during the entire time. If you really want the phone back and don't mind ponying up a reward, it may sweeten the deal for someone desperate who has it. It's still cheaper than buying a new phone depending on how old it is.

Re: Moms For Marijuana Appoints Mother-Daughter Team For New Leadership

Good to know, thanks! I'm looking for something portable though. Now I've narrowed it down to the DaVinci Ascent and the Indica

Re: The Indica Vaporizer Review

Every time I think I've decided on the model I want I keep finding something new! It's a nice problem to have. As of right now I'm on the fence between getting the Indica or the DaVinci Ascent. I'm now leaning towards the Indica because it can currently be had for $169.99 using a Memorial Day sale over on vapornation dot com which also includes a freebies like a wooden grinder and vacuum sealed storage case — all of which would fit quite nicely inside the provided Indica box from the sounds of it. I guess my biggest concern is the batter life of the Indica unit. I have no idea at this point if this will even affect me. I do tend to hold onto my gadgets though and I am extremely loyal to a product almost to a fault. I wonder if the Indica is hackable in that it could have its battery replaced. (think iPhone iFixit or something along those lines) I am new to all of this and just doing my research. I'm currently awaiting approval of my medical MJ certification so I will only be using this for medicinal purposes. I am concerned about the odor escaping so it sounds like that's yet another win Indica has over Ascent. I think the only other drawback might be that if I ever want to try oil I'll be out of luck with the Indica but that's (A) not the end of the world and (B) not really worth paying $80 more for the Ascent.

What would you say about all glass versus all metal? (I assume it's stainless steel with the Indica?) and how does glass vs metal affect taste and medicinal quality of herb? Which would you say is more economical between the Indica and Ascent? Since I'll be purchasing from a dispensary, I aim to make the most out of my medicine. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the review!

Re: Moms For Marijuana Appoints Mother-Daughter Team For New Leadership

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. I'm overwhelmed by the choices in vaporizers right now. I've narrowed it down to the Pax and DaVinci Ascent but then I keep finding something new! It was not something I expected to find so I'm very grateful to know it exists! I suffer from chronic pain, insomnia, depression and anxiety due to Fibromyalgia, Meralgia paresthetica (nerve pain) and plantar fasciitis. All of these conditions have been in part from or as a direct result of childbearing. 2 Caesarian sections against my will left me with PTSD and destroyed gut flora which I feel contributed to my Fibromyagia. I am under the care of a rheumatologist becayse I have tested with low positive ANA levels. We've tried courses of pharmaceutical drugs to no avail. My diet is healthy but I'm not able to exercise like I need because of so much pain. My boys are 4 and 7 and I this pain and suffering is preventing me from being there for them the way I want to be. Yesterday, I applied for my medical marijuana certification here in AZ. I am very nervous about all I need to learn and I worry if I'll face a stigma as a mother on marijuana with small children. I'm glad I found you for the support I'll need in the coming months of this new journey towards health and pain management. Please keep your fingers crossed for me and hope I am approved. Thank you very much in advance!

Re: How To Prepare Your iOS Device For iOS 7

Why would one NOT still enjoy push gmail? You can still use Plex with Apple TV! Just log in to Plex, but use the web app version from your iOS device. Play the movie you want from Plex then use AirPlay to stream it to your TV. I watched 2 episodes streaming from my iPad playing via Plex web app. The battery was at 45 percent and I was even able to put my iPad to sleep. It barely budged the battery much at all. It was a great experience!

Re: What Facebook OpenGraph Means For You

Just curious, but is Google+ any better or worse about this?

Re: Google+ Sidenote: Do You Cross-post?

I'm in the same boat - my facebook network has bitched at me in the past for cross-posting twitter so I don't do it anymore. Just like you, they couldn't give a crap — their loss!! Speaking of cross-posting, when are you gonna cross-post these techie posts to Moms Gone Geek? I use the posterous bookmarklet to cross-post my stuff and grab other gems I see on the web to share with our audience.

What plugin are you using for your +1 button? Like that it's in the upper left corner. I installed a plugin on our MGG WP but it sticks it at the bottom with the tweet and like buttons and I'd like it better up in the upper left like you have it.

Maybe you could write a post geared toward moms and families about how they might best benefit now and in the future from Google+ over Facebook. Might be a nice discussion topic too. I can't talk pain-free yet, but you and someone else could take on the topic. I'd love to hear about it. :)

Re: What’s Next?

Good for you! I have watched friends and family go through this experience. It's never easy. I personally don't know first hand about adoption but having survived through two rough pregnancies and deliveries, I can tell you one thing is certain when it comes to adoption AND biology: children do not come in to our lives easily! It certainly takes devotion and strength to go through what we go through to bring a child into this world and into our hearts.

Let me assure you though (not that you've ever doubted it) — IT'S ALL WORTH IT. Every single tear you shed, every single time your heart breaks. The sleep deprivation. The anxiety. Even, yes, all the crap you must hear from others about when, why, where and how you should bring a child into your life to be loved — it's all worth it and THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. You probably already know that, but I love being able say it to mothers-to-be and someday you'll be in my shoes and say it too :)

People from all over can tell you what should happen. I'd like to think it's mostly because people care and want to help. People mean well but some people are just mean. You may be in for rough waters ahead or it may run on rails. Those are the uncertainties.

Whatever child comes into your lives will be loved and cared for and this is one thing we ALL know for certain. I hope that's what you will continue to focus on in the time ahead :)

I'm thinking of you guys and praying for you and looking forward to watching your family grow. It will happen!

Re: How Do I Protect My Android Phone From a Virus or Hacker?

Najeeb,
Thanks so much for your comment!
