All regulation is useless!

Those it tries to "prevent" simply find a way round it and everyone else gets caught up with another layer of bureaucratic rules to comply with - and to what end?

Is there anybody left who doesn't understand that a link to a sales page may well be an affiliate link?

And frankly who cares if it is?

If I read an article by someone I respect and there's a link to a product I like I'd prefer it if that person got a cut of the cake.

But, anything can be turned to the advantage of the wise. Full disclosure can & should be used cleverly as you've done here Michel. Use the rules to explain your positioning and in the main honesty will prevail over the shady. Some people won't like it for sure but that's their loss. Those who don't click an affiliate link because of disclosure are almost certainly those who would try to change the link to their own anyway.

Now if only Sylvie had taken Ed Bisquera's advice prior to dating - Homer may not be in the state he is right now :) lol.

Apart from the fact Sylvie is clearly using Homer as the stool pigeon fore this video I'm impressed.

Love the look of the site - results so far are outstanding. Is this the way of the future? Time will tell I guess but the site is easier on the eye that a traditional long copy sales page and if it works then I'm all for it.

I think there's a "general" burying of heads in sand about many things with a "it doesn't apply or won't happen to me" attitude. I think you're right. Someone will blow a whistle and the bad-gurus house of cards may fall to the ground.

It seems to me there is still a very different set of parameters online compared to offline.

It is also confused still further by the international nature of the internet - for example which law applies - that of the vendors country or the site visitor?

There are stacks of examples of possible problem areas:

Discounted prices - in the UK to do this you have to prove the product was for sale somewhere at the full price at some stage - that will be difficult for some "gurus" to prove!

Price increases in 3 days. I've seen sites that have said the same thing for years!

And the list goes on

Personally I think as long as you conduct your business ethically, honestly and don't try to mislead anyone you won't go too far wrong.

Hi Barb, I fear Homer is a broken man and his attempts at success are really just his way of trying to impress and win over the love of his life. Until he finds another (Marge doesn't appear to feature for some reason) I'm afraid he may continue his ridiculous buying habits in his quest for the elusive dollar!

Blast you Mrs Fortin - you're too quick for me. I posted that comment and went out to a meeting. It was bugging me that I'd used that term inadvertently (was struggling to find the correct one) and was returning to amend it!

You are, of course, absolutely right. You are not a guru basher but a "basher of the bad tactics used by some marketers". Now I need to invent a term for us!

Just wondering whether the "candlelit dinner" was at one of those real classy Big M restaurants. I know Homer likes to do thing in style even if is he a bit of a wimp.

Mmm, I need to think of a suitable nickname for you (I don't think Homer's ex or fling sounds right, do you? ;) - If you're OK with it I will run with you in the ongoing Homer, Marge, bad guru saga from time to time. Perhaps you could be the one who finally shows Homer the correct way to do business online. He clearly looks up to you!

I'm sure you will upset a few people - home truths are always the most difficult to deal with. The AntiHype is not as brave as you (no online clout is the issue really) and softens the blow by using Homer as the whipping boy.

Hi Sylvie, a day for putting the record straight, clearly.

I'm really pleased you took the time to put your side of the story forward. I think you're 100% correct and have an inkling that Marge does in fact dominate Homer.

I do have to say, however, that Homer does sport a rather dashing pair of "guru" pajamas - even though he probably didn't select them himself.

Sorry to take you away from part 2 of Internet Marketing Sins, which I for one am really looking forward to.

Hi Randy, TheAntiHype is far to staid for dancing! He has also been barred from most golf courses in the world for ranting about the "over hype" as he calls, it regarding par 72. He charges into the pro shop after a round demanding his money back because it is "impossible" to go round in less than 110!!! LOL
