His father is dead. He was from Kenya and met Obama's mother while going
to school in Hawaii. He abandoned the family and moved back to Kenya when Obama was three. He only visited Obama once or twice when Obama was a little kid. He
died in a car crash in Kenya back in the 1982.

That is the most ridiculous press release that I have ever read.

You make it sound like Obama applied for Kenyan citizenship. Reading between the lines, it is clear that the people responsible for pushing this story are saying that any child of a native Kenyan is automatically declared a "Kenyan citizen" just like Jewish people are automatically granted Isreali citizenship.

Is this even true? No evidence is provided whatsoever and other elements of the story are clearly wrong.

I have actually heard this argument for weeks now on my local right wing talk radio station. Lots of Romney supporters are calling in and bringing this up in an attempt to get their guy back in the race.

I have yet to hear a Democrat raise the issue. It is obviously a stupid one.

I don't believe some nut on the right will murder Obama, I think it is worth considering that some nut of any persuasion in this day and age will try to kill any of the candidates. And that Obama may be slightly more at risk than someone like McCain or Hillary because he attracts much larger crowds which are harder to check. People who want to bring attention to themselves by murdering someone don't pick Joe Schmo down the block, they pick politicians and celebrities to take out.

You may think liberals are stuck in the 60's, but we could easily point to assasination attempts on Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford and John Lennon for more recent examples.

I think people are confusing "decriminalizing" marijuana and "legalizing" marijuana. Obama's position (I think) is that the penalties for using marijuana should result in fines, not jail time due to crowded conditions in prison. He is not for legalizing marijuana.

An example would be that it is illegal to speed, but you usually don't go to jail for that -- you get a ticket.

I agree that speculation of this kind is unhelpful, but I question if the secret service is doing their job. The recent Drudge story about how they allowed 17,000 people into an arena in Dallas without searching people's bags or having them go through a metal detector seems extremely careless to me.

I took my daughter to see Sesame Street Live at the auditorium in our small city in January and our bags were checked and they passed a metal dectector over us. It seems to me that people going to see ANY candidate in this day and age should get that much scrutiny at least.

That's how he "forced" him off the ballot.

And, last time I looked, Alan Keyes was on the ballot against Obama when he won for senate. Just because the GOP could not find a qualified candidate anywhere in Illinois to run against him isn't Obama's fault....
