It's pretty sweet to imagine what Crean can do with actual top flight recruits. It's kind of hard to recruit your own state when you have a team like Purdue that is winning RIGHT NOW. Just because Crean isn't getting stars now doesn't mean he wont ever. It's looking more like you have some sort of vindictive motive against Crean rather than logical reasoning.

I can't see how he was highly regarded. He barely played basketball at all before going to UConn. He was the quintessential definition of a project that happened to work out.

In regard to the poll, there's no reason to get angry over it. You took it WAY too far Coachv. Rather than let Alex defend his side of the argument, you slam him like yours is correct no matter the rebuttal. Poor taste sir. You are sounding like a troll.

If you think David Williams doesn't deserve criticism, then you are just plain ignorant. Look at what has happened to him recently, PPG in big basketball events, starting on his AAU team, etc. Nobody here insinuates that they are smarter than the coaches. Everyone understands that they don't. We work with what we are given, and not allowing someone to form their own opinion is just snobbish in my opinion. OFCOURSE Crean knows more than us. That's why he makes millions a year, and I can hope i make that in a lifetime.

Apologies, some people drive me crazy.

This is interesting. Im sure that about 75% of the people here were just sure that Irving was coming here. There has to be a bit of information we are missing. It just does not make sense to me, but I wish him luck, Duke gets a lot of attention. Indiana doesn't get as much as it used to.

But hey, Crean can compensate, if this guy can actually form a semidecent team out of a bunch of mid level recruits, I am sure he can convince some high talent program changing guy to come here.

I agree, Indiana is certainly capable of that, and we know it, It's just that all those teams you mentioned have great stability. Even with the Roy Williams/Bill Self coaching changes, the coaches succeed and do well. The Universities know what coaches to hire, and it shows. UCLA is probably the best example, 3 final fours in a row is nothing to sneeze at, especially with all the talent that left the respective teams.

It would be great to grab Kyle, and if he commits, awesome, but let's be take a look at Duke (As much as I love Duke....). They are going to have a huge lack of guard depth in 1-2 years when Scheyer and company graduate, so Irving is looking at plenty of playing time should he commit there. The ACC is probably the best basketball conference in the nation(Opinion, very open to discussion), and playing for a team that's always in the top 2 is a very good motivator.

Now, Irving is also from New Jersey, and that's a long ways away from Indiana and Duke. i think a major factor here is McLeod. You can't underestimate the effect of having someone you know when you are far away from home. it just creates that feeling of security. Now, I could be wrong and he could commit to Duke or UK, making me look moronic, but hey, just my 2 cents,

I heard that his performance at the Nike tournament may put him as the #1 PG in the class. They say he dominated the entire court. Sounds like a good commit to have :)

I have to disagree with this, based on the perfect example of this: Thad Matta.

After Oden and Conley left and after recruting 5 star after 5 star after 5 star, OSu has failed to make the NCAA tournament, and then got an 8 seed, in which they were knocked out by Siena. Now, Thad Matta's teams are struggling to have any sort of chemistry, which is pretty essential to a Championship team.

Recruiting 5-stars is good, but to a limit in my opinion.

I don't think that Ferguson would be that type of player at Indiana, but that's very open to discussion, because I believe that Watford will take away a lot of Ferguson's minutes. I think that he would stay on the team basically because he wouldn't be as big of a star if he were at a place where there was no credible SF present.

Yes, he's terrible, a clone of Deande Jordan from last year, but a team like the Pacers or the Heat will grab him, but I'm sure the Heat woudl rather grab Thabeet.

Don't call me a conspiracy theorist (I've heard it enough), but what is the incentive for the refs to call the game in IU's favor? What if these refs were told to give Wisconsin the game so more Big ten teams can get into the tourney, like Wisconsin, a bubble team. Sorry, but there has been some poor officiating for IU, and besides old referees not being able to keep up with all the games they go to, this is all I got.

I smell a 16 seed against Pittsburgh. Sounds horrible and will probably make Pritchard cry, Would be the greatest achievement that I have ever seen in my life if Crean could get us into the NCAA. :D

Hey guys, there was an article online about a possible rumor that Pitino would be the new head coach at Arizona. As a fan, I can only hope this is true. Get him out of the Midwest and get his recruits. Here's the article.

You should probably read some of the comments here before you say we are going overboard, because I am pretty sure that most of the people here are intelligent enough not to overreact.

Now, I agree, the NCAA is the root of the problem here, and for the exact reason you said, inconsistency. They choose to punish us for phone calls, while OJ mayo and Reggie Bush have a grand old time in SoCal. It's really stupid, and I think that the fact that we weren't one of the top teams in the NCAA and USC had great football and college teams had something to do with it, but that's just me, the conspirator.
