What a joke! See, the US military has spent millions of dollars developing the "crowd pleaser" pain ray vehicle to disperse entire crowds. The Israelis spent a fraction of that ($250,000) to make a smaller version capable of dealing with few at a time.

But the joke is on them. See, you wanna defeat this expensive tech with cheap no-tech? EASY! Get loose, comfortable clothing (long legs and long sleeves) and line it with aluminum foil. Ta-da! Your entire body covered by hidden aluminum foil is now safe from the microwaves. But what about your face? EASY. For a little more you can buy yourself some nice, see-through metal screen (fine mesh, not so fine as is used in a coffee filter...door or window screen size holes may well be enough) and make a head covering with it. You can see through it but it will block microwaves too.

Ta-da! Millions (or even hundreds of thousands) spent developing some fancy-pants torture ray for wiping out civil liberties and all it takes to defeat it is cheap aluminum foil and metal screen material for mere dollars.

I don't understand the repeated failure of lawyers and others to cite the supreme law of the land that DOES bar torture, abuse, and inhumane treatment regardless of location or status: the Treaty Against Torture, Abuse, and Inhumane Treatment was largely written AND SIGNED by the United States! Article VI of the Constitution clearly states that all treaties to which the USA is a signatory are the "supreme law of the land". Thus, it IS illegal to abuse or torture anyone anywhere for any reason by law.

Obama is now a war criminal, as is Holder, along with the entirety of the Bush Administration.

If "controlled failure" means redistributing wealth from the bottom to the top, then I prefer anarchy (and would work to bring it on). So far from what I'm seeing, UNLIKE FDR's New Deal which redistributed the horribly skewed wealth from the top back to the bottom, the current Raw Deal from Paulson/Bush IS redistribution from the bottom to the top.

Given that, I'll take anarchy because then the playing field is truly leveled and the top 1% will not be able to hold onto their ill-gotten gains.

I bought mine in the form of coins. I do not believe that seizure of gold applies to coin(?). I have avoided raw bullion for that very reason...and I'll be damned if I will give up my coins unless I get a REAL fair market value (not some fake value set by a Bush or a Paulson, etc).

Hope you're right about gold. I bought my first round about a month ago, just before it plunged down in the $700/oz range. I then bought some a week ago just before it started its current modest climb. Hopefully the climb will continue to make all that at least break-even or slightly better.

I'd buy gold just in case but then, I got seriously reamed the last time I bought gold about a month or so ago. Bought above $900/oz and the next week or two, *plook*, gold plunged down to below $800/oz. Now I'm gun shy.

WTF?

The US economy is unsustainable, the government is exploding its debt and doing nothing to stem the deficit, and yet the dollar strengthens and gold plunges. Makes no sense to me.
