I don't know TVa, for a show that probably *does* belong on cable, those results didn't look so bad to me, especially against Two and a Half Men. Of course, it was on broadcast, and not cable... Notably, it came in second among 18-34 year olds, trailing Fuego en la Sangre, but well ahead of Two and a Half Men.

Not a very good showing for America's Toughest Jobs. You would have thought a bigger crowd would have sampled it with a Deal or No Deal leadin and a good olympics powerd push promotion.

These numbers by CBS are close to pre-Olympics levels.
At minimum, Flashpoint should get a 2nd summer renewal, if not a possible midseason order.

The olympics should hover around the 22-26 million range for the remainder of the olympics, outside the closing ceremonies.

Big Brother had done very well against the Olympics, not skipping a beat.

What were the numbers for NBC for the 11pm - 11:30 half hour? Did the half hour even count since they were commercial free for 45 minutes, starting at 11pm?

I fully expect the Olympics to to draw 40 million + for the half hour that Phelps is swimming tonight. After that, The Olympics will start dipping down to the low to mid 20 M in total viewers for the last week of the games.

TVa, I thought Firefly was OK, but didn't love it. I can see the appeal for the Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft and Maker Faire loving crowd, but if you're not in that limited subset of humanity, it's probably not for you. I'm not surprised by the ratings there at all.

I enjoy Terminator: TSCC and it surprises me given that we (sort of) know what happens after the time we're watching. I think they did a great job with casting all the way around. Lena H. is outstanding (and she *is* the lead character), but I do think Summer Glau has done a fabulous job as Cameron for reasons that have already been articulated in this comment thread.

I saw an episode of Firefly and thought it was pretty horrible. Summers acting is OK/average. Nothing special.

I have to agree with cylon that Lena Headey IS the best thing about the series.

While I do think that Summer is pretty, I don't consider her to be a great beauty. I agree, however, that her performance has been vastly overrated. Her behavior and mannerisms were far too human for me to accept her as a cyborg. Since suspension of disbelief was impossible for me, I merely saw an actress trying to play a robot with human tendencies. Lena Headey is the best thing about that show.

@TVa: It's not just Summer's look or acting (though you should check out Firefly/Serenity if you haven't yet, and not just for Summer's sake), it's that she's the sweetest thing in the world. Look at her public appearances, like this one at the Carson Daly show.

TVa - Summer is not a great beauty, but she is cute, and she can pull off the character's mannerisms (i.e. the really emotionless face, the mimickery, or what I like the most, the cat-like way she 'stalks' those she wants to terminate) well. She has a tough job to do because she has to convey so much through facial expressions and subtle gestures, since her character doesn't speak much and doesn't use inflection when speaking.

By way of comparison, I think she plays a more believable "robot girl" character than, say, Lexa Doig's "Rommie" character on Andromeda...

The Womens Gymnastics quest for gold kept the viewers up late.

A small ad in the corner the size of the watermark logo is one thing, but the ads nets like TBS have are huge and obnoxious.

TVa, as big of a fan of the show that I am, realistically, I think it will be very hard-pressed to get numbers like that even if it executes the first few episodes beautifully. It's going up against DWTS and Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother, and unless I missed a schedule change by NBC, Chuck. The crossover for the CBS/NBC and FOX viewers for that hour are quite high so DVRs will be working overtime. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
