Olbermann does indeed have some growing to do to be a serious challenger to The Factor but his audience has grown considerably in recent months. Along with that comes the growing audience for 'Verdict', which may one day grow into a sizeable hit.

Overall a stellar night for Cable News, 22.3 million viewers between 5 and 11 pm, with 14 million plus in primetime. Cnn seriously challenging FNC now in the 25-54 demo, 5 to 8 pm showing regular wins and in primetime stalking closer all the time it looks.

For those wondering, Planet Green will not be a NEW channel in reality, as Discovery Networks is simply rebranding the current "Discovery Home" channel with a new name and direction for it's programming. Much like they have done for Discovery Times which recently became "Investigation Discovery". I'm looking forward to the new channel and especially now that Bob is on board.

10.6 million viewers for a debate? That's impressive even if the debate was garbage and the startling part of that was almost 45% of the audience was between the 25-54 demo that advertisers love. I'd say that shows how much interest there was and still is.

Interesting to note CNN's 5 pm and 7 pm DEMO win, and their 6 pm and 9 pm performance coming dangerously close to winning. If this trend continues...

Not really surprising for those of us who pay attention to the daily ratings race and see that CNN has been scoring victories over Fox and MSNBC on an almost daily basis in the A25-54 DEMO.

MY point is if you got nothing more to say than "Wow, fox is dominating" or another version of that what is the point of posting virtually the same message repeatedly? No discussion of the way David Gregory's program is slowly becoming the new Tucker, a ratings toilet or how CNN is beating FNC at 5 and 7, and many nights @ 10 in the money demo. An actual discussion of ratings does not include a complete dismissal of the numbers you don't like.

For instance how will the big Hillary interview Wednesday on O'Reilly effect his ratings? Typical response "He'll still beat Overhypedman". Offers nothing to the discussion other than take up board space and showing everyone you have nothing to offer to the conversation.

I have actually not seen many people question who's number one. It's certain people who are manically obsessed with repeating the fact that we all know very well. BillO draws a strong audience because the usual Fox News (and cable news as a whole) viewers are seniors who tend to stick to a routine and watch every night. If a show is entertaining and a bit naughty it tends to draw a larger audience than a HARD news show.

OK now to the actual comments, great night for O'reilly and not only in the ratings because I thought it was a good interview with Hillary. But ratings wise he did really well, down somewhat from night one of the Hill interview but a good night.
