So I live in the Twin Cities - just flipped over the the local news and the the anchor lady said that John McCain was in town today "trying to pick up undecided women". I hope there's not too much of that when the Republican National Convention gets here in September.

Years ago when I lived in North Carolina there was a commercial that ran locally for a laxative called Doxadan. It featured a scruffy "outlaw" type county singer strumming his guitar and singing the Ballad of Doxadan. This was at least 20 years ago but I remember the lyrics word for word to this day:

Doxadan gentle Doxadan
When nature needs a helpin' hand
Doxadan - keeps me reguler
Sure as the sun rises.

I assume that the creator of this thing grew up to direct the current "Viagra county jam band" commercial.

I've occasionally heard the "Obama is a Mac, Clinton is a PC" comparison made - and Obama is very much like a Mac in this way: I dig the product itself but the more ardent supporters are such idiotic fanboyz that I'm embarrassed about liking the same thing that they do. I'm going to keep my Mac and I'm going to vote for Obama - but please keep the starry-eyed disciples of both away from me.
