Or at least I read them until I get to the first "libbie" or [sighhhhhhhhhhh] or "Please don't be illogical and overly emotional, AGAIN" or "leftie children" and then I stop. Ergo I, and from the sound of things here several others, only get the pleasure of reading about one in ten of his posts. :-)

Re: Afghanistan: The “Dithering” Ends. OUR nation the suggestion to stop talking about George W. Bush would be hilarious.

Stop talking about the man that took the United States to a unnecessary preemptive war that has cost us well over a trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000,000.00) and over 5000 American and half a million (500,000) Iraqi lives?

Stop talking about the man that cut taxes while allowing the deregulation of the financial marketplace depriving the government over a trillion ($1,000,000,000,000) much needed revenue?

Stop talking about the man that tried to dismantle civil rights?

The United States is on the brink of financial ruin because of a combination of the policies brought on this nation by the eight year debacle called the George W. Bush Administration. Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, Carl Rove, etc. etc.

So those who don't like the idea of looking into this travesty, don't seem to see any value of learning from past mistakes are going to be disappointed.... I'm honestly wonder about the motives of those who seem to thing it a good idea.

Re: Food Stamp Usage Across The U.S.

comment read

Re: Afghanistan: The “Dithering” Ends. On that day DLS made the 9th comment in TMV's disqus comments.

In the 694 days since then you have made 9,000 comments (13 things to say... day in... day out... no time off for good behavior) but so far you haven't "liked" a single comment made by anyone else.

Maybe you'll appreciate someone else's opinion in the next 694 days... The 'fact' of the matter is the panel responsible for the report began their work in 2006 and they sent their conclusions out for 'review' in 2007.
Behind Cancer Guidelines, Quest for Data
The task force, a 16-member panel of experts appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services, began its work as usual. It went to an academic center, in this case the Evidence-Based Practice Center at the Oregon Health and Science University, and asked for an extensive review of all the relevant papers published on breast cancer screening, including ones used in the last review. At that time, the task force recommended routine screening starting at 40, saying that there were benefits although they became greater as age increased. The Oregon group had done similar reviews for the panel, including a review for the 2002 guidelines. [...]

The Oregon scientists began by combing the literature. By November 2007, the researchers, led by Dr. Heidi D. Nelson, a professor of medicine, medical informatics and clinical epidemiology at the university, had finished its review and sent its work to 15 outside scientists for review, then sent it to the panel. Finally, the researchers were ready to make their first full presentation to the panel members. [...]

Part of that evidence, which Dr. Nelson’s group included, was new results from a huge study in England of mammograms for women in their 40s. This study, published in 2006, compared 54,000 women offered mammograms starting at age 40 with 107,00 women the same age who were not offered them. Re-institute the draft, a LOOPHOLE FREE draft where ONLY legitimate 4Fer's were exempt.

Young men (and women?) of draft age are already required to register for the draft so it would take no time to put their names in the hat and get our military up to a strength that will no longer require 4th and 5th tours of duty in a combat zone.

Those who think this is a bad idea had best go to their next "Town Hall Meeting" and tell... nay, demand that their congress person take the steps required to keep you children out of harms way. (i.e. end the pointless, unprovoked war in Iraq)

I personally believe, as stated above, that once a draft was called American would very rapidly correct the disastrous foreign policy of the Bush years and that we'd extricate ourselves from the war that Bush and Cheney knowingly mislead congress and the American people into allowing them to start. This would end the hawkish, confrontational military posturing of the last 9 years and need for a draft would be short lived... Until next time.

If you don't think it can be done and/or would rather spend time arguing over how low the President should bow then you're part of the problem... Part of the reason 'our heroes are worn out' and not part of a solution.

Re: On the Military Draft and True Patriotism

if we don't help out the existing troops with some relief
You've yet to suggest what you think would work.
