I honestly don't think that nofollow is a good way to reduce spam. It is easier for spammers to do so indiscriminately than to stop bothering with blogs that use nofollow.

It does seem that some are seeking out the blogs that talk about using DOfollow. So I guess the lesson is that if you use it, don't flaunt it.

Hmmm. yours looks quite different than mine, Vlad. Wondering if you'ere using the "stable" version of the plugin vs. the "beta".

Yeah, look like you're using the "stable" plugin Vlad as your comments are being served up in Javascript. They won't be visible to Search Engines.

The Beta uses Disqus' API and loads the comments on the server-side and includes them in the post. You might want to switch over to that if you care about these comments being in your post's HTML available to search engines.

Ahhh. I didn't think of that.

Did you see that you can create categories in your disqus community? check out my community page where I created several random ones.

I traded emails with a disqus guy and you can slip some JS into the blog template that will cause the discussions to go into a specific category. So you could have two categories, one for each of your blogs if you wanted.

You cannot move them after the fact, though.

Also, keep in mind that these discussions that are created here (not from a blog post) will appear in your recent comments disqus widget.

Not a bad thing, but a bit confusing when labeled "recent comments" on the blog.

I'm thinking that discussions from costpernews will show up on the samharrelson.com recent comments widget as well.

I get more and more excited about the potential of disqus every time I think about it. The way you're using it here doesn't seem to be what they had in mind and even causes some confusion, but it's a totally new paradigm.

Right, I love the idea of the cross polination. The widget just needs to to a better job explaining what those things are. People expect them to be comments on your one blog.

Yes. I installed it on a test copy of jangro.com. I use svn to install/update WP and it was as simple as a single 'svn sw ...' command line. The upgrade was completely seamless and error-free. So much so that it scared me. It can't be that easy.

I'm this close to pulling the trigger on jangro.com, though. Though I keep putting it off hoping they'll release it.

Though I do think maybe we weren't ready for this even a year or two ago. It's a pretty radical shift.
