Everyone I know would much rather have an iPhone with the app store than a Nokia phone with a duller OS that has MMS, a good camera, and video recording.

But personally, I don't find Nokia phones to be outstanding in neither hardware or software.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, out now (and sold out) in Moscow!

Also, I realized that I may have been overly rude in my first post. Sorry for that.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, out now (and sold out) in Moscow!

"Nokia sold about 45 Millions of N-Series phones in 2008, and in 2009 they
will sell more, because of the new upcoming touchscreen Nseries.

The iphone is expected to sell less than 10 millions units in 2008."

Yeah, but the iPhone is only one phone whereas the N-series line has many different models. That's not a fair comparison. Apple has something like 18% of the smartphone marketshare, and they have just one model! That's pretty impressive, if you ask me.

----------

"Also, the iPhone has great features, the touchscreens is just the top
available in the market, and the appstore is great.

But as for functionality, the iphone features as a low-end Nokia device that
retails for 99$.

It does not have videocall over 3g, no MMS, a crap camera, no video
recording, while Nokia features high resolution video recording, no Flash
support, no memory card."

Yes, it is missing out on many basic features, but how can you say MMS and video calling is more useful than an app store? The app store basically allows for great potential usefulness for the iPhone, while video recording and MMS can only go so far.

----------

"Professional Press uses Nokia Nseries for live reports, via Qik software.
They make live videos, live pictures, they write reports and they stream
the video them directly on the web. You will never see those people working
with an iPhone, just because, it's a shiny cool toy for pseudo-geek of
fashion victim loking for the coolest gadget. The Nseries phones are maybe
less cool, but just much more profesional."

Are you serious? The iPhone is very critically acclaimed. It may be the "cool" thing to have, but it's not bad by any means. You're making unsubstantiated claims that the iPhone is bad, just because it's the hot thing to have.

Also, how are N-series phones more professional than the iPhone? The N-series are multimedia phones. At most, they're equally unprofessional. But professional users still use the iPhone, because it now has Exchange support, etc.

----------

"I played with the iphone and I was amazed by its design, and screen. But
after using it for a day, I just tought that I could not trade the above
mentioned features for a cool multitouch."

Personally, I wouldn't care about video recording, camera, MMS, etc, if I had the functionality of the iPhone. But it's personal preference, I know.

----------

So, please, don't call me fanboy. And you say, "Nokia, you are behind".
Typical fanboy statement."

I find my statement of Nokia being behind to be pretty objective. Nokia hasn't come out with a touchscreen phone until now, and their phone resolutions are only 320x240/240x320, even on the N-series, and the N96 is even advertised as being able to play videos. Sure, but it's not worth it on such a tiny screen.

Also, I have told you that I'm not an Apple fanboy. I don't have or even want an iPhone. I do not own any Apple products. And I posted my original comment on my Nokia N78. I'm just expressing my disappointment in Nokia, because I thought they could do better than this, and I'm not the one to bring up the iPhone comparison: you mentioned it in your post, and I was merely responding to it.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, out now (and sold out) in Moscow!

I'm confused... are you calling me an Apple fanboy? And calling the iPhone outdated?

Firstly, I clearly stated that I don't own an iPhone, nor do I even want one. I don't own any Apple products. In fact, I own a Nokia N78. PiZero was the one who brought up the iPhone comparison in the first place. I was just responding.

Secondly, saying that 1 million iPhones were sold on the first weekend is a fact, not an opinion. You can't call me a fanboy because I was stating the facts.

Also, what? How is the iPhone outdated and Nokia phones not? Nokia's first touchscreen phone is just coming out now. And all of their current models have an unimpressive 240x320 resolution screen.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, out now (and sold out) in Moscow!

Maybe in Russia it will, but I wasn't talking *just* Russia. My point is, PiZero was drawing the conclusion that this phone will beat the iPhone just because the first 50 of these were sold out quickly, and that alone is not enough to say anything definitively.

Re: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, out now (and sold out) in Moscow!

Wow. You're such a Nokia fanboy. And I mean that in a bad way. How does the fact that Nokia sold 50 phones prove that they're going to own the iPhone?

Lol, obviously there are going to be at least 50 Nokia fanatics that want the phone, thus the reason they were sold out quickly. Had Nokia shipped more than, say 5,000 phones without any sort of announcement, they wouldn't have sold them all.

And what Nokia did here, if it was deliberate, is pretty smart. It got people to think that maybe this phone will be a success. But anyone with a brain can see past this trick, and it doesn't prove anything.

Am I saying the Tube won't do well? No. It might. But honestly, I doubt it. And I'm not a Nokia hater. I own an N78. Hell, I'm typing this message on it right now. However, if I were to get a new phone right now, I wouldn't get another Nokia, except maybe an E71. Nokia is way behind, and it shows with the fact that they're only getting their first touchscreen phone out now. The Tube is NOT an iPhone killer. Period.

Maybe when Nokia get's some more respectable, up-to-date phones out, my faith in them will be restored. But for now, sorry Nokia. You're way behind.

One last thing. I remember you said something about the Tube being the most anticipated phone of this year. That seriously made of laugh out loud. Did you totally miss the launch of the iPhone 3G? People camping outside stores? Over 1 million sold in the first weekend? ... Yeah, 50 Nokia Tubes doesn't look so impressive now, does it?

(Note: as I have stated before, I am a Nokia user myself. I don't even want an iPhone, but honestly, I want a tube even less.)

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Theme by PiZero

Same as above.

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Theme by PiZero

Um, I posted a logo-less wallpeper. I'm going to use this as on my phone, thanks!

Also, for those who do not want the Olympics logo on the wallpaper, I created a modified version. I'm using it on my N78 and it works fine!

http://img132.imageshack.us...

Also, as some other people have mentioned, when you dial a number the box and text is white so it becomes impossible to read. I hope you fix this! :)

Re: Abstraction - with Flahorn Icons and Fp2 compatible

Thanks a ton! :)

*hint* do this on Summertime! :p

Re: Abstraction by PiZero

Hey! I love your themes. However, I own an N78 and there seems to be one common glitch between all of your themes for me.

In between "Options" and "Exit" on the bottom, there is an "Open" link for me. However, the "Open" text remains black on all themes, so when I use Abstraction you can barely make it out on dark background. I currently use Summertime, and while it's legible on that theme, it still looks awkward because "Options" and "Exit" are both white.

I've edited a sample screenshot from your post to show you how it looks for me. It looks *something* like this:

http://img167.imageshack.us...

I'd appreciate it a lot if you could fix this, or at least on the Summertime theme. :)

Thanks!
