I think we've pretty much turned the fictional Hunger Games into reality TV by now, which was, of course, brilliantly staged and directed to seriously mock American mainstream news coverage even before the rise of Trump.

I figure the meter started to move into FBB (Full Blown Bullsh*t) mode with the straight-out-of-Disney staging and lighting-up of W speaking on Jackson Square in NOLA post Hurricane Katrina. Whereby if you moved the camera just a few feet to either side you'd have come across Third World-like scenes of devastation rather than the Princess' castle.

Oh the turds still to polish. Media on!

Atlanta quietly stepped over a stunning Southern cultural milestone when Julian Bond died.

Our typical and expected religion-based "homegoing" funereal finery were simply... not here. Atlanta was deprived of the public display of affection we famously put on to mark the passing of an icon.

Just weeks before Bond passed away, I'd attended the funeral for another Civil Rights-era icon, Alley Pat. Not as well-known a personality as Julian Bond outside of Atlanta perhaps, but Alley Pat was surely a huge personality if there ever was 'round this town! Pat was also a, surprisingly to some, religious man.

Now THAT funeral, wake, visitation, etc. came complete with a crowd of hats and church fans and suits and ties (some Hosea Williams overalls too), and choral spectacle, open casket, a veteran's flag-laying as the coffin was closed, fine eulogizing and speechifying, and even a horse-drawn, glass hearse through the streets of Atlanta! All our best bells and whistles not seen at that level since WSB-TV broadcast Hosea's funeral, live.

Our streets were very quiet, so to speak, when Bond passed away. Just another day in the A really. But ashes scattered back to the source of all life, the ocean, do not really make a sound. The delicate infinity of waves coming ashore must say all that was necessary to say at the end of such a life.

Dude. Bill. Seriously. You've always been a terrific Georgia/Atlanta cheerleader. For a, how shall we say in the year 2014 and not 1866, "transplantee." We got that. Best thing you or your boss lady Ryan or the governor or your new BFF Becker can possibly do for this fine city now is... give WRAS programming back to the GSU kids. All of it.

And give Mr. Assange a break too while you're at it. He's already been outed as being lousy in bed. Isn't that assassination enough for a guy?
