Wonderful! I am so very happy for Skylar. It is fun to see her enjoying sounds! Erin experienced this at 18 months after numerous ear infections. Her speech improved greatly after this too.

I absolutely agree with the DREAM act. The kids this act impacts did not choose where they were born, but they should be able to choose to make a positive impact in their community without discrimination!!

Great article, Erin. Interestingly enough, no one group was individually responsible for the Obama/Biden victory. Even if you took out the Latino/Hispanic vote entirely, Obama still would have won.
As for the accusations by Dan of socialism, this is just another case of a sore loser crying foul in my book. Give the man an opportunity to prove himself - and, as an American, (I presume) I hope you, Dan, are willing to do your part to help America be successful in getting ourselves out of the mess that Obama has inherited. We have to work on it together, not just expect one person to make or break our country. Get involved and make yourself part of the success factor.

Will do. So far it is quiet here in Custer County. Half of us have already
voted or requested a ballot before today. We have three polling places and
about 2500 registered voters, so I am not expecting any major glitches.

I am excited about ALL citizens being able to vote and being helped to do so. When we start treating ALL of our citizens FAIRLY then we truly will be The UNITED States of America.
Hopefully the voting of all newly registered voters will mark the beginning of a trend rather than just a one-time event. VOTE today - Nov. 4, 2008 - and keep on voting!

I was so anxious to vote for Obama that I was the second person in my county to vote on Oct. 20th, the first day of early voting! I am spending today seeing that others are reminded to vote and get a ride to the polls if they need one.
We have to make sure that we vote. We can't hope or expect that enough others have voted already and then assume that our vote is unnecessary. We can't say that the weather is too bad or that we are too tired to get out and vote. I want for this election year to produce the largest number of votes ever and the largest percentage of registered voters to have ever voted. To me this is what a democracy is.

Isn't it convenient how some folks can use "domestic partner" to include a certain group of folks when they want to exclude that group from something but then can turn around and refuse to include that same group when benefits are being discussed.

How long should an investigation take with a captive audience to question? How long should those who were innocent bystanders be punished (live in lockdown mode) while investigators complete their work? Forever? Yes, prisoners have presumably committed acts to land them in prison, but there are rules for fair treatment of prisoners too.
