#4 is a constant reminder to me of what it is like living in an urban city and not knowing where I am when I get out of the subway. I swear that is the most confusing thing to me when I am in an area I just don't know. I won't even play it off. I ask someone where the heck is such and such. Thanks for the smiles today!

You mean kids today are as bad as us adults with technology? I purposely have pulled back from using technology so much when I am out of my house. It can be so addictive but you have to learn to control it.

Wow! I'm a newer fan by far. I really like Auditorium and Supermagic, but
the whole album is really great. I first heard about him from Julien Smith.
This video is pretty provocative, the song is catchy too, even if you don't

Not sure but so far I am loving them all. I'm more familiar with Mos Def's acting career than hip hop career so this has been fun listening to him again since his debut album which I had when it first came out. I saw all his Broadway and Off Broadway shows. (I saw him in Suzan Lori Parks -F*cking A & Top Dog/Underdog) He's a fantastic LIVE performer. I'm so proud of him! Do you have a favorite song?

I bought the album for $2.99 on amazon for the daily deal last week. I'm not a person who buys a lot of t-shirts but an interesting strategy here. The album is fantastic!!

I had a meetup account but I had issues not necessarily with the platform but for a policy that a group organizer did not outline as to when they deleted individuals from their group - I was one of those individuals deleted because I was not an active participant in their group. I never really used meetup so that is why I deleted my account but I appreciating you sharing your situation.

I can't believe they don't even have a bulk option on their platform if that is the case? Sad.

12 years ago when I was hired by a media conglomerate I was essentially doing all of this but on email platforms and on AOL websites and other email platform websites.

My pay was so bad I had to live at home and I could barely afford anything. My transportation was not even paid for so I had to hitch a ride with one of my parents or take the subway and pray that the company's bus would pick me at the subway to get me to their office on time.

I could not take the financial strain so I went back to school. I've been on twitter for 2 years and on facebook and all these individuals I know want me to work with them but no one wants to pay so I decline.

Thank you so much for sharing that now people are getting hip and paying those of us who have these skills to use this platforms for a better cause.

Totally feel the vibe but this is a perfect opportunity for those of us who want to be a part of the change to share our unique cultural histories. Sure some people don't care and don't want to know but to that small minority that is curious and open to learning do share. I do get tired of talking about race to some people who refuse to understand but you know that is their loss. You have a unique voice! take the opportunity to share your rich history! So true! Thank you for the tips. I stopped tagging my photos after I saw all this go down.

I was unaware of using the Statistics to see if my photos are being used elsewhere. I have fortunately been approached and asked to use some photos and I am thankful for that.

But, I have been uploading my pictures to Snapfish and I only share with my family who I know will only share with family members. But then again I know those pictures can be shared too. The real gems I don't share!!!

True. I still think sharing some photos of your children is fine, however be
careful how you tag them. Don't ever use "children" or "kids" as a tag,
perverts subscribe to searches like that.
You can also go into Flickr and look at your Statistics to see if your
photos are being used elsewhere.

Some really valid points. The article did address this too, that some fakes
could occur. It mentioned a fake police department on Twitter too. This
could cause some mass confusion.

Unfortunately I know that anything I put on flickr or on any web sharing (photo) website is going to be taken by someone. I stopped using my flickr account after reading all these reports of individuals sharing with me how their pictures were being taken without their permission although they had indicated All Rights Reserved with the Copyright Symbol.

If you don't want your pictures taken then be like Patrick which is not to share pictures of certain things or people. I've taken this route. I've been seeing a lot of pictures of kids on flickr to the point that someone had created a flickr group of children's pictures they found on flickr. I only found this out when I had shared a picture of a family friend and I quickly took my picture out of flickr not thinking that someone would do this.

This is why I won't upload pictures of kids or people I don't know. I take more pictures of objects than people. You have to be careful nowadays.

My issue though with this is that when people report crimes are they telling the truth? I hope so.

Last year, I remember there was an incident over on tweet secret or secret tweet where someone tweeted that they were being molested (a young kid supposedly tweeted this) and so many individuals were trying to figure out how to get to this child. Tweet Secret said they could only find the IP address of the person who tweeted that incident but they could not reveal any other information about this.

It made me wonder then how could the police use twitter effectively as a web tool? If people are going to lie about situations (which is a lot) how to we take a person's tweet seriously if they are honestly being hurt or in danger. I hate questioning this but it does make you wonder. I don't know then if taking a picture or video is necessary to help document your situation? But how can you take a picture of yourself being assaulted or raped? Or maybe try to get a picture of the assailant? But you have to be crafty in doing that.

His digital management team is pretty strong to the point that I was surprised that 1 of my blogs that I wrote about him was featured on their website. You know who else has a NING site? Amel Larrieux but it is not being promoted that well. I've done my part (I don't like to say that I am a part of her street team for that is a name I can't stand. I prefer appreciator of an artist work but not street team) but I can't get people to actively engage in it for they all continue to go to various Amel Larrieux sites but her main site is www.blisslife.com Amel Larrieux's NING site: http://amellarrieux.ning.com/

One thing though about K'naan is that although he is open to learning about sharing with his fans, I need him to FOLLOW me back on twitter if he wants me to participate in this journey?!?!? I hope that at least he will allow those of us on NING to participate too because I obviously am getting no love from him on twitter. He is not following some of us from NING who have actively participated on his site there. I'm not to sure of the strategy that his team is making in connecting those communities but a few of us on NING do talk on the regular. Waah. If I were not private I know he could read my tweets to him but I rather just engage on his NING page with this for this is how he knows my presence there.

That's the only drawback on this is connecting those communities from NING, Twitter, facebook, etc. It's a doozy but you do what you have to do!

Amel is performing at B. B. King's on April 30th in New York City. Please come! I am not to sure if I can go but go!! I saw her at the Blue Note in August 2008. I think I have seen Amel now about 5 times. She amazes me every time I see her. http://www.bbkingblues.com/schedule/moreinfo.cg...

Like you, I am excited for her next project. "Glitches" is my ultimate jam by her and I have never heard her perform it live. Maybe she needs to collaborate with the Roots on an entire album so they can tour together? That would be fly.

If Amel did more duets I would love to hear one with Maxwell! Also, I would love for her to consider doing a duet with the opera singer Jessye Norman. Another person who I would love to hear her sing with is Luna Sans of E.S. Posthumus. Luna's voice reminds me of Amel's voice. I would love for the two of them to do a collaboration with E.S. Posthumus. My ultimate dream would be for her to do a duet with Prince and also one with Michael Jackson. I could go on and on who I would love for her to sing with but she can sing with any artist and bring another dimension to that artist's work.

On a side note, I would love for Stuart Cottonbelly Matthewman to produce an entire album for her. See here: http://www.cottonbelly.com He is the producer who works with Sade and he worked with maxwell and amel larrieux in the past on his first studio album, Sweetback. Ahh.

Awww....thanks so much. I love Amel and would do anything to support her. If Obnoxious LIsteners starts putting on events, she'll be on the top of my list for performers. She's just amazing.

I look forward to hearing what she's up to next. I would absolutely love if she started collaborating with hip hop artists again. Glitches (w/ The Roots) is such a great track and I think Amel can blow away the other r&b singers out there right now. Who would you see her singing along with, if she went that path?

I agree with everything that you have said in your review, Nirav!! Her voice is amazing. I am always in awe when she hits her high notes LIVE. Seeing her LIVE is a must for anyone. She's my favorite singer!!! That's why I appreciate in an interview where she was asked what kind of music does she sing and she said, "Amel's music." I agree!! Thank you for considering to review her music here! You made me have the biggest cheese smile knowing you appreciate her music too!
