This article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/11/obama-...) is more evidence of their weak attempts.

In this article, the author was trying to suggest that Obama caved in to Fox and threw Dunn under the bus by saying that this Fox interview " comes just one day after it was reported that Obama Communications Director Anita Dunn -- the so-called general in the administration's war against Fox News -- will be stepping down". However, the report that Obama will give an interview with Fox IS A LIE. HuffPo should've known it was lie because it came from Drudge and Fox! But, HuffPo has been so desperate to say that Obama is backstabbing Dunn and so desperate to get progressives/liberals so riled up, that they didn't care about the source. And now, HuffPo and Danny Shea have egg on their faces.

Re: The REAL Hero of Ft. He made clear that while we have come back from the brink of what many predicted would be a depression, he will not be satisfied until robust job growth returns. Towards that end, he announced that in December he will bring minds and stakeholders together for an intensive jobs forum:

"As I've said from the start of this crisis, hiring often takes time to catch up to economic growth. And given the magnitude of the economic turmoil that we've experienced, employers are reluctant to hire.

Small businesses and large firms are demanding more of their employees, their increasing their hours, and adding temporary workers -- but these companies have not yet been willing to take the steps necessary to hire again. Meanwhile, millions of Americans -- our friends, our neighbors, our family members -- are desperately searching for jobs. This is one of the great challenges that remains in our economy -- a challenge that my administration is absolutely determined to meet.

We all know that there are limits to what government can and should do, even during such difficult times. But we have an obligation to consider every additional, responsible step that we can [take] to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country. And that's why, in December, we'll be holding a forum at the White House on jobs and economic growth. We’ll gather CEOs and small business owners, economists and financial experts, as well as representatives from labor unions and nonprofit groups, to talk about how we can work together to create jobs and get this economy moving again.

It's important that we don't make any ill-considered decisions -- even with the best intentions -- particularly at a time when our resources are so limited. But it's just as important that we are open to any demonstrably good idea to supplement the steps we’ve already taken to put America back to work. That’s what this forum is about."
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2009/11/12/presi...

Re: Thursday Open Thread

Next week, the number one topic is gonna be Oprah's interview with Palin. Hood case. I get a feeling that this whole case is gonna be filled with drama and pure fuckery. They can't even tell the truth about who took down Nidal Hasan!

Second Officer at Fort Hood Offers an Account of the Shooting
By JAMES C. McKINLEY Jr.

KILLEEN, Tex. — Sgt. Kimberly D. Munley has been applauded as a hero across the nation for shooting down Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan during the bloody rampage at Fort Hood last week. The account of heroism, given by the authorities, attracted the attention of newspapers, the networks and television talk shows.

But the initial story of how Sergeant Munley and the accused gunman went down in an exchange of gunfire now appears to be inaccurate.

Another officer, Senior Sgt. Mark Todd, 42, fired the shots that brought down the rampaging gunman after he had seriously wounded Sergeant Munley, according to an eyewitness account and an interview on Thursday morning with Sergeant Todd himself.

In the interview, Sergeant Todd said he and Sergeant Munley pulled up to the scene of the shooting in separate cars at the same time, and ran up a small hill toward a building where Major Hasan had attacked unarmed soldiers as they stood in lines for check-ups and vaccinations before deployment. The gunman was already outside the building, he recalled.

“That’s when the bystanders were pointing in his direction,” he said. “And when we popped up, he was standing there, and we shouted our commands — “Police, drop your weapons” — and he just opened fire on us.”

Sergeant Todd said he was slightly in front of Sergeant Munley on the hill. “Once we took fire, she broke right and I broke left,” he said.

Sergeant Todd said he did not see his colleague get wounded. He started to circle around the building, but then backtracked as panicked bystanders told him of the gunman’s movements.

“As it unfolded, I went a different direction and he went a different direction, and we met up in the front of the building,” he said.

Sergeant Todd said he then saw Sergeant Munley on the ground, already seriously wounded. He shouted again at the gunman to drop his weapon.

“Once I came around the front of the building, I caught his attention again, started shouting commands and then he opened up a second time,” he said. “And that’s when I returned fire, neutralized him and secured him.” Citing the ongoing investigation, Sergeant Todd declined to give more details about the precise positions of Major Hasan, Sergeant Munley and himself during the gunfight. Neither would he say how many times he shot Major Hasan with his 9 mm pistol, or what the gunman was doing when he shot him down. The whole chaotic encounter lasted only 45 seconds, he said.

But Sergeant Todd’s account agrees with the statements of an eyewitness who had gone to the base’s processing center, where the shooting occurred, to conduct business before being deployed.

The witness, who asked not to be identified, said Major Hasan wheeled on Sergeant Munley as she rounded the corner of a building and shot her, putting her on the ground. Then Major Hasan turned his back on her and started putting another magazine into his semiautomatic pistol.

It was at that moment, the witness said, that Sergeant Todd, rounded another corner of the building, found Major Hasan fumbling with his weapon and shot him.

How the authorities came to issue the original version of the story, which made Sergeant Munley a national hero for several days and obscured Sergeant Todd’s role, remains unclear. (Military officials also said for several hours after the shooting that Major Hasan had been killed, although he had survived.)

Six days after the deadly shooting rampage at a center where soldiers were preparing for deployment, the military has yet to put out a full account of what happened.

READ MORE: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/13/us/13hood.htm...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, they said Hasan was dead. That means John King will be spending more time with his "Magic Wall". Mrs. King will not be happy.

Update: John King to Replace Lou Dobbs; Focus Will Be on Political News
By BRIAN STELTER

John King will anchor an ambitious new 7 p.m. hour of political news for CNN beginning early next year, the network said Thursday.

The announcement came a day after Lou Dobbs abruptly announced that he was quitting his CNN anchor job immediately. Until Mr. King begins his new assignment, a rotating cast of anchors will fill in at 7 p.m. on an interim program called “CNN Tonight.”

Mr. King is currently the anchor of “State of the Union,” CNN’s Sunday political news show. Previously the cable news channel’s chief national correspondent, Mr. King became better known during last year’s presidential election when he dissected election results on his touch-screen “Magic Wall.”

In moving Mr. King to a weekday time slot, CNN will seek to improve its dismal evening ratings. According to Nielsen, CNN ranked third among cable news channels in the 7 p.m. hour in October, mirroring its other prime-time declines.

The new political news hour is an affirmation of CNN’s straightforward news strategy at a time when its cable news rivals, the Fox News Channel and MSNBC, are drawing bigger audiences with opinionated programs.

“John doing that show is obviously a statement about the importance of real nonpartisan news to CNN, and also the importance of political coverage to CNN,” Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN/U.S., told employees on a conference call Thursday morning.

Mr. Klein added, according to an employee who transcribed the call, “Having made a statement that we’re all about nonpartisan journalism and outstanding journalism, we have to live up to that. We have got the hardest mission.”

Mr. King will remain the anchor of “State of the Union” until early in 2010. CNN did not identify a replacement for him.

Only 10 months ago, CNN rebuilt its Sunday morning schedule around Mr. King, giving him four hours for interviews and debates. The channel’s media criticism show “Reliable Sources,” hosted by The Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz, is now shown within “State of the Union.”

In a clear contrast to the outspoken Mr. Dobbs, Mr. King, a former Associated Press writer, is known for his straightforward style. CNN called the forthcoming 7 p.m. program “a definitive political hour that goes well beyond the surface of the day’s top stories to provide in-depth analysis and context to key political movements in Washington and across the nation.” CNN’s chief competitors at that hour are Fox News Channel’s Shepard Smith, a news anchor, and a political commentator, Chris Matthews, on MSNBC.

“John embodies what we are striving for at CNN -– he is steadfast in his objective and nonpartisan political reporting and has the passion for chasing down stories that really matter to Americans,” Mr. Klein said in an e-mail message to staff members.

In a statement, Mr. King said, “There is a lot of noise and conflict in our political discourse, which is fun to cover, but I’m convinced from my travels that people also thirst for more details as well as insight and context. I’m looking forward to combining those conversations with top newsmakers, smart reporting and expert analysis.”

http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/1...

Re: WEESeeYou Sammy Sosa: WTF is going on with your skin?

I've noticed that some of my older relatives have those whitish dots on their legs. The teen claimed Williams was holding him against his will and "threatened" to beat him up if he left the estate. During a compliance investigation, the NCAA found that he participated in an non-sanctioned basketball tournament and was ruled ineligible for the first two games. Weber said he believed the event was a 3-on-3 tournament.

Jordan, a reserve guard, averaged one point and one assist per game last season for the Illini. He earned a scholarship before his sophomore season after originally enrolling as a preferred walk-on as a freshman.

He handed out four assists in 19 minutes of action in Illinois' exhibition victory over Quincy Sunday.

Jordan is at least in good company. Jordan will join Duke's Nolan Smith, Kentucky's John Wall, and Indiana State's Dwayne Lathan on the pine to start the season. Each of the four players have been ruled out for two games. Smith and Lathan, like Jordan, were both found to have participated in non-sanctioned summer tournaments.

The 23rd-ranked Illiini aren't likely to need his services during his suspension.
