Picking a big number seems to have been done as rational a manner as pulling it out of their collective ass and throwing the santorum at the wall. I'm in PromNight's camp - yes we need a bailout but let's think about it. The reason for the freak out really has nothing to do with debates but that a fiscal quarter is going to end on Sept. 30 and a whole SHITLOAD of debt is going to come due on Tuesday. That's the magic day - a debate in Mississippi is a distraction. I need to try to leave work early to swing by the liquor store to see what the hayell is going to be broadcast from Oxford at 6 pm Pacific (or is it 5 pm - puhleez help...)

@Ewalda: Wow. Not in any way to minimize your experience, but I keep having dreams about my dead dog where she's in some sort of danger. I try to save her and wake up agitated because I can't quite save her - and then I wake up and don't know if I'm relieved or more upset to remember that she's in the great St. Francis-supervised dog park in the sky.

@RML: I don't know if I enjoy your food porn or firearm porn more. And I say this as someone who grew up in Texas, and thus saw way too many guns gratuitously brandished by morans (not you, obviously) who didn't respect them or understand how to use them, and thus literally start trembling and shaking every time I see a gun or rifle because I have such bad traumatic memories. So for me to enjoy your firearm porn says something. Perhaps it says that I am now fearing that Mr. SFL and I are going to have to retreat to the hills above SF with our earthquake kit after the October surprise...and SFL will need to pick up some self-defense beyond her brain, mouth, fists, and feet.

Hey Hunter, interesting piece on that other blog re: last Yankees game. Sad but true they kicked out that guy for yelling shit.
@JNOV - at the end of the day, this isn't a paying thing for the uncle-daddies and mommies, so their first focus has to be on the blogs that pay. I still don't quite understand how anyone can make money from having blogging be their day job, but there you go.
I definitely appreciate Nojo and FCS keeping the wheels on the hooptie Caddy go round and round day-to-day, and am always happy to see the original uncle-daddies Greg and Hunter come by to say hey.
So can't we all just get along?

Meanwhile, this article about the study done by Stanford researchers on racial attitudes of white U.S. Americans towards blacks and Barack made my stomach hurt. Maybe when it was when I got to the fact that more than 1/3 of white Democrats call blacks "lazy" and "violent."

Really, I tried to focus and understand but I lost it about two paragraphs and two pie charts down. Someone talk me off the tree and explain how in 20 years the so-called Bradley effect is no longer 18 points but now only 2 points. Still too close for comfort.
