I don't know where to talk to anyone (tried IRC). I also can't see a way to submit issues on the github project.

Re: A Dependency Injection for PHP Manifesto – Part 2 (Why I Want It)

I sure did and I love it.

I original wanted to use FLOW3 but that was before PHP 5.3 was released and there was no idea when it was going to be (FLOW3 is build on PHP 5.3).

After being disappointed I couldn't use FLOW3, I started looking at the issues in more detail. I feel to get good adoption of DI in PHP there needs to be a DI framework that is focused and standalone.

FLOW3 is a full framework and I want to provide developers with a tool that could be used in a project that is already started.

FLOW3 will without doubt be a point of reference for me to show people how it can be done well.

Re: A Dependency Injection for PHP Manifesto – Part 2 (Why I Want It)

I appreciate you taking the time to do that.

Who knows how this could all turn out. Right now I'm just hoping to catch peoples attention.

Re: A Dependency Injection for PHP Manifesto – Part 2 (Why I Want It)

I really like the work done with the Symfony container, it's extremely high quality code.

I feel it doesn't go far enough and doesn't represent a full framework for the job of creation and pluming together of objects.

I also feel that the concept of containers is no longer valid. The container concept we have here, I believe, is originally from Enterprise Java (J2EE) world. It was used in Spring as Spring was attempting to improve upon J2EE.

I feel it's unnecessary as relationships can be described without having to add an extra layer in the form of a container.

Re: A Dependency Injection for PHP Manifesto – Part 2 (Why I Want It)

Thanks for the excellent question:

I'm not able to comment on why other languages don't use DI. From the looks of the presentation you pointed me to PHP classes are closer to Java classes than they are Ruby so mocking is not that easy in PHP.

Most projects find out they needed DI after the have already started the project. DI can be done without a framework if you start the project off writing in a DI manner. So some sort of tool or framework is needed to help in this situation to prevent having to do a rewrite.

There are no PHP DI framework that work the way a PHP developer would like them to work. This is what I hear inside of a PHP developers head - "Make it easy to use out of the box, make it fast, I don't mind a little magic as I'm comfortable hacking at your framework if it's not working right"

Education is an issues, most people haven't really "gotten" the DI thing yet. This is because DI is often mingled with other concepts like AOP. So focus is important that is why I'm promoting a DI only framework with a focus on testing.

Re: A Dependency Injection for PHP Manifesto – Part 2 (Why I Want It)

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the catch, that's once I seems to make all to often :)

Re: Reversal of fortune

I'm glad you had a better day, it's hard went you think the world just sucks. I think it's all part of lifes balance. You would not see the good in people if you never saw the bad and I think xmas is a time that both can be taken to the extream. I see people really look inwards and try to better them selves by helping others, so I guess moody shoppers is a price you pay.

Re: Do the holidays bring out the worst in people?

I have to tottaly agree on this. Having move from Vegas to Denver with my wife who grew up in Vegas and I who after moving from the UK had only Vegas as my only point of reference. The major thing we noticed was just how nice everyone here is.

To support this I have a story of a time I was in a Wal-Mart recently where it was so busy that people were almost falling over one another, but the air was full of sorries and thank yous

Re: Alien Bees vs. Cactus V2 trigger & receivers

I think the appropriate comment here is : SCIENCE IT WORKS, BITCHES

Re: Mr. Hennessy Presents DJ FAIL

By any chance are you referring to the Human League song?

Re: Movie Review: Saw V

LOL
