Right now, nearly 65 percent of the odds are going to the Giants and Rockies, the teams atop the Wild Card standings. So when you start slicing up the pie for the remaining squads that are in the mix -- and there's a lot of them -- you're seeing them all getting around the same percentage range: 4-7 percent.

That's why the Cubs are at such a low percentage as of today.

Re: A Few Last Thoughts On The Jordan Crawford/LeBron James Dunk That Never Was

Great point, Jake. It's sort of been raised to Paul Buyan mythical proportions at this point, and will likely be a letdown if it ever sees the light of day. Can I write on my blog “Please, please, please come to IU!”?

It's dissimilar because you are directing contacting the recruit saying that. Same goes for a social networking site. You are seen as a booster for the school influencing the recruits decision. You can't do that in the NCAA's eyes. If it's on a blog, you are most likely in the clear.

Even further, how is an @reply not allowed between fans and crean?

This is a good question. I'm not sure why this is. But it's the rule. Alex has an e-mail out to someone in the IU compliance office, so we hope to have an update on that. Remember, you can direct message him on Twitter, and there's a chance he'll respond.

Crean can't talk to fans now?

He can still talk to fans.

How is this different than giving an interview to ITH or the IDS, or saying Hello to someone as you pass them on a street?

ITH and IDS are media outlets; you can obviously still talk to someone on the street. For some reason, the NCAA has decided to extend some its guidelines on what coaches can or can not do in the electronic communications realm in regards to recruits to college fans as well. Not quite sure on why this is. But that's the rule. Again, we hope to have more info on this later.

Re: Phil Mickelson Needs A Better Stylist

I like the white belt on Phil. She could go to Russia and make that back in a year. Just ask Diana Turasi.

But, my point was this: She likely won't pay it back because we'll all forget about it soon enough, and it won't be an issue.

Of course, I could be dead wrong. I probably shouldn't have been so dismissive of Marquette's program. But, Al McGuire led the team to prominence in the 70s.

Crean led them back there some 30 years later.

And sure, I'm not saying Crean isn't cutting corners here and there, because it's likely most every coach does. But, it's not as egregious as Sampson.

The difference is, he hasn't been caught. Between his graduation rate, never being slapped by the NCAA and the character of players he recruits, I'd say he's a bit better suited to lead a team at IU than Sampson.

Re: Mouthpeice Faux-Exclusive: Schram City, Illinois Submits Olympic Bid

Schram City is to Taylor City as Springfield is to Shelbyville.

Re: Pat Forde brings IU’s attendance into perspective

Ah, whoops.
