It is blatantly dishonest to suggest that the world hates us simply because we have a republican president.

The unvarnished facts are, the countries who share our goals still see us as partners and still like us and the countries who hate us will still hate us regardless of whether a democrat is elected president.

Consulting reality is always a good first step when writing an article.

Re: Hillary Clinton’s Pennsylvania Victory | The Progressive

Dukakis and McGovern looked good compared to these 2 choices.

Re: School Superintendent Threatened over Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish | The Progressive

Why don't we just cut to the chase and take this argument to it's logical conclusion?

If we don't have the right to ask for a common language, then we don't have the right to fly a common flag or use a common currency. If we don't have the right to insist on the above, then how do we have the right to conduct business in a common legal theme? How do we have the right to claim the U.S. Constitution applies to everyone? Is it fair for a German immigrant to be held to the standards of the American Constitution? Should Cuban immigrants abide by the Cuban Dictates? Should Islamic immigrants only be subject to Sharia law and customs?

Each country has an identity and a heritage, do the immigrants who wish to make this country their home have any obligation to adhere to this countries customs and norms? Unlike other countries, no one is forced to make this country their home.

What I see represented in the comments here is a recipe for the balkanization and destruction of this country.

Re: Pushing the Dems on Trade | The Progressive

We used to have a limiting document called the Constitution, before someone determined that it could be amended by a single judge. Imagine what this country could be if politicians were held responsible for the money they waste and failed policies that they create. Imagine if politicians had to give up their pensions to help help fund the social security trust fund that they raided?

Re: Who Is Hillary Fighting For? | The Progressive

As an American, who happens to have black skin, I can tell you that Obama's associations with such despicable characters are very troubling. Reverend Wright does not speak for the black community and his views are rejected by all, except those who want to wallow in the victimhood mode.

His association with a domestic terrorists and corrupt business men are also troubling. Are the Obama supporters so blind that they can't understand the ramifications of his election? Can't you see the ads running now? He can not win a general election, under any conditions. Not because he is black, because he lacks the judgment and character.

Hiding behind charges of McCarthism is pretty lame, the words of the people who spoke them are very clear. The actions of his associates are very real.

Don't we need to throw away that worn out crutch and start dealing with reality? The person elected as president is not based on hope, it is dependent on votes.
