The author conflates adding to the bottom line between actual work vs financial shenanigans. When the bottom line can be manipulated by buying up stock by borrowing money, write off the cost against earnings and increase earnings because you have reduced the amount of stock outstanding those highly educated workers have an outsized and false effect on productivity. Further to dismiss constraints on labor as a positive aspect of capitalism when capitalism is about competition is evidence of a blind closed mind.

The question you should be asking

is why when Trump amd the Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate they did not address the issues you stated.
Medical care plan has been to dismantle the PPACA & have insurance companies offer plans that don't cover anything. Ms Devos has done nothing for public school education except charter or private schools using public school funds. Which means less resources for public schools. Lastly why was there no expansion of childcare credits.
The reason is Republicans view you only as widgets, i.e. economic inputs that can vote. They blame your problems on minorities when you have the same problems.
Pay attention as you have likely voted R for 20yrs maybe more

I'd disagree the bankers will be happy. One of Warren's acts to end income inequality is to prevent any stock company from borrowing money or using its own earnings to buy back stock. You know this artificially raises the price of the stock enriching management at the expense of the middle class. The middle class that can not artificially raise its wages.

Where does this idea that wages are rising? The lower 3 deciles have seen no increase in wages. The next 3 only because they arw fortunate to havw health care whixh is considered part healthcare. Few in the deciles can meet their deductibles unleas they cut back drastically or borrow heavily which you acknowledged.
The only way there are wage increases is because so much has flowed up skewing the measurement. Mr Ritholtz knows better.

The African Americans who lived in Mantua were betrayed by capitalism. To call a force displacement of people because Mantua is a gateway to Fairmount Park for starters is not an improvement for the people who live there. An improvement would have been education to new job opportunities. It is one of the failures of capitalism; people are just widgets.

This is an out and out lie.
The things you can consider city services is far too limited. A simple call for dog runs comes from money for parks and other recreational faiclities that are badly ignored and allowed to go to trash until this recent group of carpetbaggers come in. You only need to look at Philadelphia or Chicago in any area of gentrification. Tennis courts basketball courts swimming pools are magically fixed-see Washington Park or Fairmount Park around the Please touch Museum. Any new housing tears up the streets and the streets are magically repaired but if you live in N Philadelphia the pot holes simply become bigger. the schools are continued to allowed to go to trash as no new schools are built or old ones equipped w/ modern equipment unless they are charters which simply suck resources from the existing system w/ no responsibility for the students that wont take. Bike lanes take away parking in poorer neighborhoods on major streets for people whom believe they are so privileged that they don't have to obey traffic signals- See Philadlephia.
Stop lying about what costs are and how money is diverted. Your class conscious is showing.

Bloomberg opinion approached this issue yesterday when the attacks on the lead negotiator describing him as someone who traded away Chinese sovereignty to the Japanese in the late 1890's occurred. That should have sent alarms to Washington. Unfortunately when you have a head negotiator in the US who also takes no responsibility for decisions the outcome is likely to go quickly from suboptimal to disaster. I suspect the latter is going to be the outcome.

The wheat will be separated from the chaff as time goes on. Effectively producing solutions the American populace wants and needs and being identified w/ them is what will do it. Then the synthesis occurs finding the richest head of wheat. That head will incorporate: the religious sensitivity of Buttigieg; the labor connections of Biden; a hard nose approach to legislation like Pelosi; a sensible green policy- slowly closing down nuclear plants replacing them w/ natural gas plants, an interconnection of the electrical grid on a nationwide basis, electrification of public transportation thru electric buses and trolleys; tax changes that take away the absurd leverage capital has in gathering the gains of the economy-wages don't move but a corporation can borrow money and write off interest costs on buying back stock depriving the government of revenue to solve the problems of the entire American populace; pushing more aid to families by expanding educational opportunities-full day kindergarden, larger exemptions for children, healthcare for all by demanding more of the insurance policies on the preventive side; ability to tamp down extremism w/in the party by avoiding purity test-some of the activists sound like Erdogan or Orban. Lastly an ability to be pleasantly honest and convince Americans that there will be positive change for them.

If this party wants to win elections they need to present legislation that helps people, e.g. corrections to the PPACA such as mandatory list of checkups in the annual checkup and making mandatory in the month of your birth; more money for education K thru 12-full time kindergarten for all kids; instead of arguing about abortion provide legislation that makes it easier to raise a family- a higher tax deduction for children under the age of 18, higher write offs for infant child care paid for by banning write offs of interest payments used to buy back stock to reduce taxes for corporations.

Then when the Republican party does not bring them to the floor of the Senates for votes you argue the Republicans are afraid of competition. They don't want anyone to threaten their incompetent children who only succeed by the fact they were born into a wealthy family. argue that all they want the rest of the American populace to be is widgets a widget is just an input to economic output that is discarded once used.
Democrats can continue to investigate both the President, his family and cronies under their Constitutional responsibilities and powers. They can argue that they are the party upholding the Constitution taking away a talking point to those feckless members of the Republican party and their followers.
Just keep away from impeachment talk.

The authors need a new job. The Russian military political complex should be afraid of their population. They have done nothing for them except replace the communist cronyism w/ crony capitalism. The lives of the people are diminishing everyday by any statistic especially when compared against their own demographic data. That is why they need an army of 475k "professional" whom in effect are nothing more than glorified Stasi. Their experience w/ influencing those who don't want to do the work of obtaining info for them selves, aka the American electorate, only reinforces the need for them.

The debt would not be secured by the company. It would be secured by the city's taxes because the bonds are issued by the city.

Mr Sen's ignorance is amazonian. The return does not fix many of MYC's problems. NYC cannot print money to fix things they can only impose taxes. Giving a trillion dollar company, that could build a company town anywhere it chose to buy the land, is fiscal irresponsiblity because they can leave anytime they want; see Cincinatti and the DHL airbase fiasco. Then they would leave NYC w/ nothing but useless property and crushing debt as the taxes from the jobs, which theorectically pays for the debt disappears as well. the cost of raising prices on housing and the burden on infrastructure will not be made up either.
As to the politics of the left it shows that the left is not about privatizing profits and socializing debt and losses. This is a concern everywhere. See NC and all the corporate pig manure farms that have contiminated land and water supplies for miles.

What is necessary is for the new governor to void the deal ASAP. The money pledged in expenditures should go to schools, school infrastructure,i.e. new equipment across the board and state infrastructure such as roads, bridges and sewers.

thestateof VA and NY should take a hord look at ther Amazon deal as well as all it will do is create a mass transfer of wealth from the citizens of the state to Amazon. One only look at the DHL agreement where an entire US air force base was given to them. all they did was leave.

Just as Israel fights for Jews anywhere in the world so to does Iran fight for the Shia. A nuclear weapon does the same thing for Iran as it does for Israel; guarantees security.
