Anyone know how to create a system repair disk ISO. Netbooks and other smaller computers do not have optical media readers/writers and therefore the system repair disk needs to be loaded on a USB flash drive. There is NO option to create this from the Windows 7 Utility. I tried using virutal DVD drive apps without success.

No -- that's the danger in these pieces, everyone thinks they know who it's
about -- but it's not about anyone in particular. It's about gatekeeping as
a practice. If to you that means Apple, great -- but honestly I wasn't
thinking of Apple when I wrote it.

I think you misunderstood my question. This is a built-in feature of Windows 7. I was asking whether or not the feature is crippled (i.e., does not work) in some of the less expensive versions of Windows 7.

For example, XP Mode (a Windows 7 bundled XP virtual machine) only comes with Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions. Starter, Home Premium, etc. do not get it. Similarly, Bit-Locker is not available with Starter, Home Premium, and Professional but is enabled in Enterprise and Ultimate editions. Similarly, I believe Backup will not work with network drives for Windows 7 editions Home Premium and below.

I have a hard time keeping up with the plethora of Windows 7 editions—32-bit, 64-bit, OEM, upgrade, retail, WAU multiplied by Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise/Ultimate. It is quite complex and confusing trying to remember the details much less keep it all straight.

Hence, I was trying to clarify does the "Create a Bootable System Repair Disc" feature work in all editions or is it limited to only some of them?

Since 7 is built on much the same platform as Vista, likely it will work on all versions. The higher versions simply unlock more features, the basic registry hive and o/s are the same in all of them.

You can also add the JSView Firefox add-on and then click on the JS icon in the right-side of the status bar to turn off the JavaScript on any page.
