That's pretty scary that the fire safety equipment was in such bad shape, or as you pointed out, not even there in many cases. Thanks for covering this, hopefully more people will sit up and take notice.

It's pretty cool that fire departments are using twitter - what a great way to let people know ahead of time if there is a bad fire. Thanks for the list - very useful!

Great post, especially about keeping your fire department number on hand - you just never know when you might need them, especially in areas where they may not have a 911 number.

Wow - who knew how dangerous they could be. I'm glad they were able to rescue her, but it's sad that these silly shoes took fire safety personnel away from their jobs.

What a bizarre event - and I'm still shocked that someone played around with the fire safety equipment. You just have to wonder what moves people sometimes.

Very interesting post. I'm not sure where I stand on it, but it certainly is interesting. One thing is certain, we've got to have fire departments, but you're right, how should they be managed?
